Does anyone have issues following tasks?

I have this problem too. My boyfriend will say stuff and I will get either confused or forget. Its like my pragmatic memory is terribe. I also have a hard time following instructions unless they are very clearly written. I don't like people assume what they mean.

One has to be very clear with me, and accept something may have to be repeated. Writing lists down doesn't seem to help me either unless its on my cell phone or computer. Paper methods get neglected or lost.

Through the years I've brought home many wrong things from the store, but being absolutely sure at the time that I had made the right purchase. The odd thing about it is that I'm still taken by surprise when it happens.

This is one of those type of events that still makes me cringe to think about.

My dad had asked me to go get a large container of vanilla yogurt for something they were making. I ordered a 'large' and brought it back. Obviously, there is a different style of container they have (bulk vs individual) and I didn't even look around (new place, sensory overload, etc). There is no way I could have known that, not going into one of these frozen yogurt places ever in my life.

I just shutdown and he had to go back out and get the right one instead, I would be way too embarassed to go back to the same place after making a mistake like that, I just couldn't handle it.

I also make sure people tell me menu numbers at fast food joints, and force them to write it down. If they write it down wrong, at least I can blame them for false instructions.

This happens to me whenever my wife sends me to the grocery store. I either can't find what she's wanting, or if I do manage to find it, I'm faced with several shelves full of different brands/sizes/styles. It's a nice feeling when I manage to come home with the right thing...not so nice when I come home with the wrong thing. Although she's a little more understanding now that we know I have Asperger's.

clear instructions necessary. lists. (which are a new feature of my life since seeing an ASD psych.)

Prior to that, I would forget what i was there at shops for, and come back withe 3 of something we already had in abundance in the cupboard.

yes but mostly in school,even though iam highly intelligent i recive poor grades because of my poor oral insructions perception.Does anyone else need subtitles to watch a movie or is that just me?
