Er, I don't remember. Some friend recommended it to me, I think.

I found a link to in on Wikipedia.

Last year in June, I think, I found out while browsing the internet, that it would soon be 'Autism Pride Day'. Before that, I had no idea that the autism rights movement and the community had taken such flight in this decade. So, browsing a bit more, I also found autism forums. The first one I found was actually Aspies For Freedom, but that one was temporarily not accepting new members for some reason. So when I typed 'autism forum' into Google, I found WrongPlanet. Otherwise, I'd of been an AFF poster.

A google search for articles about female aspies.

This book referenced the site. Reading the book had made my suspicions about what was wrong with my brain even stronger than they had been, so I came here to see if I could find any information, and to see if the members reminded me of me. (They did. I felt like I'd found my long-lost tribe.)

Either through Aspergia.com (it had links to other Asperger/autism sites or forums) or Googling. I'm not sure which.

Aspergia is long defunct, unless it's been recently resurrected. I don't recall this site ever being mentioned there and I was there for a while. But I could be wrong about that.

I found this site on a long gone online AS site that had this on its list of links. I forget the name of the site. It was Oops...Wrong Planet or something, but it wasn't directly connected to this site.

I had just left another site in 2007 that I found unhelpful, but in a forum thread there I last visited the site WP was mentioned by someone . So I checked it out.

I did a search of autism communities on Google back in 2006 and found this place.

I typed in asperger forums in google (something like that, I don't remember) and this forum came up, so I joined.

Same as HowlingMad1992. It looked like the most active ASD forum.

First, my mom told me about AS, and then I did the AQ test, scoring 36 on it. That was back in December/January.
I've searched up "Asperger's Forum" on Google and the first link that came up was this one: http://www.psychforums.com/asperger-syndrome/, so I joined it. I think it was sometime in March. Sometime in April (look at the date I've joined this forum!) we had a long weekend consisting of 4 days off school. I've stopped going to that forum for a long time before that but have accidentally come across it when I somehow saw that some visitors to my website came from the forum. This was quite strange because I've never linked to my website there. After having investigated/resolved the issue, I found myself going back to that forum and getting more and more interested in Asperger's syndrome. I was reading random posts on there and found a link to wrongplanet, and I've joined immediately seeing how active this forum is compared to psych forums, and also because WP is only about AS/autism.

My wife suggested to me that I had AS, while I have a great distrust of wikipedia. I looked on wikipedia at the page on AS, and I discovered that this AS community existed. I came here hoping for quick and easy answers to some very deep questions.

I will say that I did not get instant answers on the deep questions, but then I felt that I had made contact with my own kind. I felt at home and I have stayed.

I feel with hindsight that I had unreasonable expectations that the path to the happy and content aspie (which I think a lot of the citizens of the wrong planet aspire to be) would be simple, easy and well documented. I would say that like many of the people here I am a "work in progress", things are getting better each day.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
