Stress, Tics, and Tinnitus

Can't say I've experienced more than the rare tinnitus that is considered "normal" for most people, but I sure do tic under stress! Bite the skin off my lips, repeatedly snort/clear my sinuses, bounce my leg or shake my foot, tap my molars together...

This is very interesting regarding tics. I had read in Temple Grandin's book that many Aspies have or develop Tourettes Syndrome. Has anyone else heard this? Or know of any links to anything that mentions this connection?

I have what I call a muscle spasm in my left shoulder/neck/arm. Only the left side. It is slight at times, or at least can be played off like I'm stretching or getting a kink out at times. When I'm stressed it is pronounced and at times very noticeable and weird.

I never associated it with AS until reading Temple Grandin's book. Is this what you're calling a "tic"?

I have some tinnitus as well but thankfully not very disturbing. Mostly it's an echo left from a moderate or loud environment. And I attribute that to oversensitivity.

earthmom, that is probably a tic of some sort. I recognize myself in the description. I usually have some weird movements going on around my shoulders/neck/arms. My psychiatrist even said tics around the shoulders are very common.
