I don't work in anything language related but when I was a kid, I used to be the teacher's pet of my english class (i'm french speaking), every years, whoever the teacher was, they loved me; English teachers were the only ones who wouldn't bully me :p I never had to study one word of english, it was natural (weird, not being my native tongue)
I learned Japanese at 13 too.
