do you have a flat expression or are you over expressive?

I have both of these in equal amounts.

I get accused of giving people dirty looks and not being aware of it. I get accused of not enjoying things when I am. And then I get accused or made fun of for looking like I'm in a play by my expressions. I know no moderation.

Mostly flat, but when I need to I express a lot. In pictures though, I always have the same bored, uninterested expression.

I'm mostly flat, but around people I get along with, I'm a little more animated.
It seems to freak people out seeing me go from looking like a serial killer to breaking out in hysterical laughter if I've seen or heard something funny. Hehe!

I tend to be over expressive, but the problem with that is that I use the wrong expressions for things. When I am mad sometimes, I will have a huge grin on my face while telling the person I'm mad, and my boyfriend says it makes me look delirious or manic. I look very angry when thinking, people have said, and depressed when happy at times. I really don't know why.

I thought I was expressive like NT's until I watched myself on a Youtube video. It's much like watching an excited four year old talking. I was thinking maybe I was NT and had some other problem besides AS, because I did feel like I was expressive. At least until I watched that video again (which I posted before I knew about AS), then it made sense that some with AS try to hide it, and it takes someone who will sit down and watch for it and not just assume you're eccentric or something.

Some of both. When I try to convey a certain emotion I look ridiculous, like I'm a little kid pulling faces. Other times, though, I look very blank and stiff.

I seem to move my eyebrows and forehead up and down a lot when I'm talking, I also move my head to the side. I put a lot of emphasis on trying to show people I disapprove of something. When I do approve I generally don't pay a lot of attention since it's too "fit in".

Ah yes, the serial killer look... {{sigh}} which comes over me when I thinking deeply about something rather intellectually stimulating, but I haven't worked it out yet to my satisfaction... the ol' mental engine firing smoothly on all cylinders and then some witless wonder goes around telling others what a horrible angry person I am, which of course they believe because they're all afraid of their own shadows!

Hmmm.... I guess that was a bit of a micro-rant, eh? And I'm smiling now... when I'm actually a little tweaked thinking about the REAL serial killers, those who kill joy and hope and intellectual bliss.

Ah, would that it were so simple... but no, they are Happy--can't you SEE how Happy they are, walking around with gooey, gloppy grins--and they want us to be Happy so their whole world is Happy, Happy, Happy just like them. You just have to Think Positive!! !

Just read an interesting book rview of two books dealing with the Happiness Plague, one by Barbara Ehrenreich--from the left of center--called "Bright-Sided" and one by John Derbyshire--from the right of center-- called "We Are Doomed".

Ooo, I'd better stay home today... I'm liable to tell the next smiling person I see to Get Real! Grow a thought! Use the other 9/10ths of your brain!

My face is naturally flat and expressionless, but it can change a little in some situations.

Funny thing is, I have always known I learned English mostly through comic books (and dictionaries). Later I realized that most of my "communication" skills were learned there, too. Even in Spanish I'd sometimes emulate what I learned from them.

This applies to expressions, I guess, because I think now that when I lose my flat face, it is by doing expressions I've seen in pictures. They may be too exaggerated or perhaps even out of context...

LOL, my friends always joked I'd pose like an anime character for photographs, and that I'd even stand like a superhero during the conversations.

The color you're using is hard to read against the backgrounds... creative, but black is easiest for me to read.

I was told that I alternate between flat and using 'unusual expressions'. I think the reason is because I subconsciously realize I'm flat and try to compensate for it, but the expressions aren't coming naturally to me so I overdo them or get them wrong.

Mostly flat for me. People have often told me I look upset. A friend's girlfriend nicknamed me "the angry one" because all she saw was a picture, and I guess she thought I looked angry. I do try to look a smidgen more pleasant than "upset" when I can. I try to open my eyelids a bit further than I normally would, and I try to maintain an "almost smile". I don't know how well it's working, but I haven't been told that I always look upset in quite a while.

I had a student this semester (I say had, because I haven't seen her in a few weeks) who always had this "lop-sided furrowed brow" look going on. My class is very mentally intensive, so I'm sure this is just her default "thinking look", but I wanted so badly to go over to her and tell her that she looks, albeit a little cute, quite unpleasant. I didn't think it would really be acceptable, though, so I didn't. I hope she figures it out soon.

When i'm nervous or not in a talking mood, I tend to have flat moods which nearly got me into a lot of trouble outside once, but when i'm overexcited about something, I tend to show my mood too much.... I do sometimes try to keep the smile up but its pretty hard to at times.
