Anyone know of a really good adult ADD/ADHD forum?
I haven't found any great ones, they all seem cluttered and disorganized(HAHA!) but seriously, the threads seem to lead all over the place and it gets frustrating. I just looked up a few and the formats were pretty mediocre. Researching my ADHD dx is kind of how I came across WP and I've found a lot of comprehensive info about ADHD and individual experiences with it here. I'd also like to find an ADHD forum that is as good as WP, though.

Some will not allow the posting of non-related ideas such as using terms like dyspraxia or Asperger's or epilepsy (petit mal/absence/complex partial and so on). Some will not allow the mentioning of any other groups at all on their forums. Some ADHD groups are heavily monitored along the lines of if the moderator doesn't exactly like the way a message is worded/whatever, the moderator will do something like rewrite the post without the poster's permission and not acknowledge the message was edited. I even know of one ADHD group which literally changed user names without permission and when asked why they changed user names without permission, did not reply at all. I know of several ADHD groups which allow posters to misquote actual posts on the forum and even make claims that a certain message said something when the message said something different. Some ADHD groups can act like teenage gangs/high school cliques and harrass all new posters. My general experience is such that I do not visit a number of ADHD groups today because of prior hostile behavior at their groups. Also, I tend to look at resource like the Merck Manual for information about ADHD today vs rely on the false and incorrect information that can be posted at a number of ADHD groups. I know of one non-profit ADHD group which has posted faked success rates on their website and when I brought this up to a medical doctor who had heard of the group - the doctor said my complaint was the second written complaint he knew which said the same thing - faked, incorrect data - but there was nothing the medical doctor really could do about it - it was just how the business world of non-profits/for profits worked at times. So my whole experience with many (not all) ADHD groups has been quite disappointing. Too many ADHD groups have no standards or poor standards which allow irresponsible persons to moderate the groups, allow incorrect information about ADHD to be freely distributed, or allow a continual kind of tomato throwing fight to endlessly go on at their forums (where mischaracterization, fibbing, dishonesty, and lying is quite ok at those forums). Topics like ADHD Inattentive/Quiet ADD can upset some of these ADHD groups which really fall into the category of Conduct Disorder talk groups, not ADHD groups at all. Some ADHD groups will take a question out of one category and repost it into another category without the poster's permission. These behaviors (conduct disorders) are outside of how normal businesses work. Too many (not all) of the ADHD groups show (conduct disorder) behavior similar to what some of the wild west Usenet groups have done - literally anything goes. Some of the testimonials at some ADHD groups - sometimes summaries by mothers - simply do not reflect how most others would view the challenges discussed or how those with the challenges themselves would describe it. - pgd
LOL Once I told my then psychiatrist that I had tried to find some books on ADD/ADHD at the public library but every one was listed as "lost". He laughed and saw the humor in the situation immediately but no one else who I told did. He was ADD himself btw.
