PDD-NOS, perhaps?

Just another guess, really. I'm no psychologist.

so based off my second post, this would still be a no? By the way I just watched Adam the movie. Is that an extreme case or is that reality for most of you guys?

I found it to be somewhat realistic, but the part where he kicks off and strops like a child is most certainly over-reacting.

I am not a doctor, but it sounds like you are just very intelligent and shy. You may have some AS traits. I am the parent of a little boy almost 5 that has been diagnosed as PDD-NOS/possible AS. It was evident at 1 yr of age that he had differences. He still has very little interest in children his age---the fact that you had friends when you were young seems and that you had no real apparent issues indicates to me that no, you don't have AS.

My son's father sounds a lot like you. His memory is off the charts. He knows almost every answer to Jeopardy. He was very shy and highly intelligent, but did not marry until he was 40. I think I was his first serious girlfriend. I am very social and outgoing, so I seemed to draw him out of his shell somewhat. Plus, I loved the fact that he was so intelligent, and did not seem to be a player or womanizer like so many of the men I had dated. Anyway, since we have been married and my son was diagnosed, I have been noticing a lot about him that seems to indicate that he has many AS traits. He is a computer engineer and has a degree in math. He has a few friends, but is not very outgoing. He seems to have difficulty expressing his emotions. But overall, I don't think he has enough symptoms to get a diagnosis. Even if he did, it would not matter because I love him just the way he is.

I think you just maybe need to get some practice on your social skills, and when the right woman comes along, it will happen!! Good luck to you!

Cool thanks, you're words were especially encouraging angelbear. I need to find a woman like you, hopefully before I'm 40 though. No offense to you or your husband, I'm just getting impatient and approaching the big 30 in 3 years. To everyone who has AS on here, take solace in the fact that even though you have difficulties making it in this world, if it's true that I am an NT, I have a real hard time getting along socially too. Even though I can make eye contact and usually pull off a conversation if I have the energy, I still have few friends and am pretty withdrawn. We all share the same struggle of trying to make it in an extrovert's world.

They always exaggerate symptoms. Interesting people can see things about him I didn't see but I could tell he had it. My husband said it told a story of our relationship but I am not that bad as Adam.

I posted before, but it didn't show up. Anyway, I think you are still very young, so you have some time, although I do understand the impatience. My advice to you would be to continue to work on your social skills, but also to join groups or activities that interest you. Maybe you will meet a girl that shares your interests. Then you will have something to talk about. Just remember that life doesn't always happen according to our time frame. Try not to dwell too much on the big 30, it is just a number!! Best of luck!
