dexter moments?
I'm just chiming in with another recommendation for the books. I like the show, though I haven't seen many episodes, but the books are on an entirely different level of enjoyability. They're quick reads, and I found it much easier to immerse myself in the print story rather than the television one.
I also preferred the way Cody and Aster are depicted in the book. They seem much deeper and more developed, I think. Without giving too much away, I found Dexter himself slightly more interesting in the books than he is in the show. It's subtle, but I think he and his Dark Passgenger come across differently.
In the interest of full disclosure, I almost always like the book version of a story better than the accompanying movie or television show. Give the books a try, though; I think they're quite good.
I got so obsessed I watched every episode one after the other. I was at the computer for a week watching my new addiction. I just couldn't stop
THANK YOU for the book recommendations!!
I got the 4 and have finished 2 of them, into the 3rd. BOY these are fun. They really are helping tremendously with Dexter withdrawal!!
NO SPOILERS - they're different enough to be really interesting, sort of like finding some secret unaired episodes of the show to watch!
Thanks again for the prodding - I'm so glad I got them!

Please remember that the TV series is BASED UPON the books, they are not an exact replica. I am writing this so people do not get upset when they read or watch the other thing.
1. He kills people for his own "needs".
2. He choose Rita so his needs of looking "normal" are fulfilled. I'm not sure he can feel love.
3. His code is designed so he wont end up in "the chair", not to be an "avenger".
4. He manipulate people by increasing their sugar level so they become more tired and irrational (Feeding them doughnuts)
True, i cannot see the ICD-10 defined textbook case psychopath in Dexter, but Antisocial Personality Disorders (APD) are the same as the Autism Spectrum Disorder, there is light APD and there is severe APD.
Anyway, the series is fun. I can relate to lots of things he said, especially in the second series when he wishes that he was alone on the planet and his very clear observations on humanity.

Yes! Your list is very true lol. I hate how the show (up until the latest season) doesn't highlight this enough. He's no supposed to be with Rita because he loves her; everything he does is a facade of "normalcy." In that aspect, I can relate to him lol.
I think the donut thing isn't to manipulate mood though haha. I thought it was because he does it to come off as a "nice guy." He doesn't have to be social with anyone as long as he greets everyone with a smile and brings them donuts; that's enough to appear friendly.
