problems w/ relating to people

I don't really relate to people either. Going out to stores, getting gas, talking to cashiers, it all gives me high anxiety. I'm about to start a new job doing painting/wallpaper with this guy my aunt knows, and to be honest I don't see it lasting long, I'm just too uncomfortable around people. Im even uncomfortable around family and people I've known for years... I just don't relate to them.

I work in a diner and its crowded all day long with loads of people to talk to

with this forced environment its easy for me to talk to people

and I do

but when the work day ends I'm at a loss

I use to think that if I spent enough time around the same person/people, I'd eventually warm up to them and feel less anxiety...but I don't. Being able to relate to people is a bigger issue than I realized. Without some connection, I still treat them like total strangers.

Buying stuff is a scripted interaction. It doesn't require me to relate to anyone, similar to how I have no need to relate to the chair that I'm currently sitting in.
No problem.

When it comes to actually relating to people, yeah, that is a problem for me.
