Let me rephrase my question to the best way that I meant it: If two siblings who were raised the same way do have Asperger's syndrome, is it due to a genetic component or more of a modeling effect?

modeling effect? you don't learn AS. it is genetic. if you are talking about learned behavior it is something else.

my family:
father (is a puzzle)
mother, inattentive ADD with some AS traits
brother - probably a mild aspie, and one of his kids has AS.
