I have a dog that I love to pieces, but I have to say, that I relate more to cats.

Dogs. But I like cats too. For different reasons, of course.

I prefer dogs as although cats CAN be affectionate, they are selfish mostly!

Cats have a lot more autistic traits than dogs. That's why they don't appear to be as affectionate and social and stuff. :D

This. is. awesome. How. have. i. not. seen. it. yet!! !

I can't choose though! Our family has one dog, two cats, and... I don't know. I kind of can relate to either. Both of them are really affectionate to me. Sometimes just out of nowhere my dog will walk up and rest on the side of my lap. >_> And my cats pretty much ask to be petted. lol

I wish you had a "none of the above" option. I have never understood why people love animals so much. I have had pets for years and when they died it was not a big deal to me. I grew up around my grandpa's farm and I used to blame that. (you should not get attached to your pork chop or chicken) But my mom also grew up on a farm and she loves her dogs.
I have always felt I was missing something, but its just not there. I dont hate dogs and cats, I just dont see why people would go to all the trouble of keeping them around.
Dont hate me :(

Each to their own, don't worry. At least you don't say that and actually HAVE pets. Because that's what a lot of people do. Those with no interest in pets whatsoever go and get a pet and don't look after them properly or at all. Horrible.

JFC.......to fjp, yes, yes you are missing something. to the ABIDED: ignorance is not a bliss. you believe in fairy tales no doubt, how's the easter bunny doing. by the way?

i have been around about 20,000 dogs and cats in the last 15 years. you can like them or not but 'old wives tales' about dogs and cats are just silly for the most part.

they each have their own personalities. each. their own. you can generalize, but you may be in for surprises if you do. many purebred dogs and cats are turned into shelters with their 'owners' saying: "i had another poodle who died and wanted another one just like it, but this dog doesn't act anything like my first one" . why do you think there are so many 1,2,3 year old purebred dogs available at shelters?

own personalities. dogs. cats. honest.

birds are the same, all the types of birds that are available. one conure may be loving and playful and another that is the same type will be aloof and aggressive. if you want a bird to take care of, go to an avian rescue for one, not a miserable despicable pet store that buys animals from the same people that run puppy mills and kitten mills. avian recues can discuss the bird's personality with you. fracking pet stores only want your money and the cute 20 year old sales girl will lie to you to make a few bucks.

if you're around iguana's long enough you will notice small personality differences. not like birds, cats and dogs, but they are noticeable.

my vote would be.....both........anything but humans.

RMGH.....exactly

I love all animals, but dogs are my choice for pets. I have always had dogs since I was 6 years old, and can't imaging life without. My wife and I also have several cats (two which are allowed inside the house), but we can't trust them not to do damage. They bring in mice & rats, and kill them to bleed into the carpet, and they chase the prey around the house, knocking down and breaking objects, and so on. So they're kept outside all night (they have safe access to a garage-like building with food, water, bedding, and heat). Since they usually can't find mice & rats in the daytime, we open the cat door so they can come in & out during daylight.

And the main thing is that dogs have a personalities that I can get in touch with much better than I can with cats.

So Tony the Tiger has Asperger and Toto from the Wizard of Oz has ADHD?

All Cats Have Asperger

All Dogs Have ADHD

So how about donkeys as in Shrek 1 (movie)?

Cats, dogs, and donkeys are all good.

Dogs for me - cats are really tough on my allergies, dogs I can get used to more quickly and don't bother me as much. Plus they're so loyal, but they are kind of attention whores - which is what I like about cats, sometimes they just want to be alone, like me.

I have a cat and a sweet, loving new puppy, so right now I'd pick dog because this puppy wants more interaction than my cat. My cat doesn't like to be petted or held so we let him be grumpy and love and cuddle the puppy instead.
