Have you ever been physically or sexually abused?
It's a matter of degree. A child being abused consistently and energetically by a care giver is entirely different than a cashier being abused by a nasty customer.
An autistic child with, among other things, a predisposition towards literal thinking, will integrate a constant barrage of "you moron", "you're lazy', "you're useless", "you should never have been born", "you don't deserve me for a mother" into their self concept on a deep level that takes years of acquiring contradicting information before it can be unwound. Add to this physical and sexual predations by authority figures and you have a recipe for a damaged psyche, the consequences of which are only compounded by an autistic's typical deficits in social interaction.
So, sure. Who hasn't been verbally or emotionally abused? Probably everyone has been on the receiving end of human toxicity. But some have been forced to wallow in the the detritus spewed by vile specimens of our species. And being steeped in the poison of another's evil is never a good thing.
But perhaps I'm just speculating.
I got beaten up for two years by a boy at school who didn't like me because I was quiet and different. I've had more minor physical bullying, and also major and minor psychological bullying.
As for sexual, yes I've been hurt. It wasn't rape but it was a combination of physical (im not going to elaborate further) and emotional abuse and what I would consider violation.
If I was ever sexually abused I don't know but if I was it wouldn't surprise me because so many of my early childhood memories are suppressed. Physically, yes I was abused. My father would smack me so hard he would leave bruises and he would throw me into walls. My first grade teacher smacked by bottom for something I can't remember. Even if it didn't leave physical marks, a teacher spanking a student is abuse in my eyes. She has no right to hit a child that isn't hers and I think it classifies and emotional and mental abuse as well. Aside from that incident and her making me sit inside for recess to rewrite hand writing assignments (because they were too sloppy" to read and I probably had dysgraphia). the lady was a saint.
My second grade teacher would tie disruptive kids to their chairs but I can't remember whether she tied me to mine or not. Probably not because my physiologist threatened to sue her himself if she did. She was more emotionally abusive but I wasn't really socially aware yet to understand the significance of what she was doing. I also had several friends and I think that helped soften the blow.
My third grade teacher was just mentally abusive and I was stupid and naive to trust her. kids were physically abusive to me and one in particular was a psychopath. I would ask him to put the feet of his chair on my toes and lean down as hard as possible because I craved deep pressure sensations. I thought he was just doing me a favor at the time and being nice. I had limited, if not any theory of mind back then. Now as an adult, I remember he seemed to get such a pleasure from doing it and I think he enjoyed doing it because he thought he was hurting me. Other kids would come up and hit me for no reason or say mean words to me or talk about setting kittens on fire just to get a rise out of me. I would naturally loose it and retaliate and hurt them back physically and I was told it was my fault the bullying happened.
By forth grade I had realized what my previous teacher was doing was nothing more than adult bullying and I retaliated against all teachers. I had to enter the school in a different entrance because the handicapped buses didn't park in the same place as the regular buses. There were two ladies who stood in the hallway I entered and it became a game to me to try and get them to chase me. . They would try to reach out and grab me but I was often able to outrun them. If they would have ignored me it I would have lost interest and stopped. One day the caught me and I was desperate to get away from them because I found touch painful. stamped as hard as I could on her foot to make her let go. She then stomped on mine as hard as she could. I wish I would have bitten her because if she bit me back she would have naturally gotten into serious trouble.
I thought this one boy was saying things about me behind my back and I shoved him as hard as I could against a nearby locker. My teacher saw this, grabbed my arm to drag me to the principal's office. Her grip was so tight it felt as if circulation was being cut off and standing within close proximity to people was painful because of the dense energy field or something other people gave off. I asked her to let go and she snapped no. I was getting desperate and the only thing I could think to do was bite like I should have done with the lady mentioned previously. I only bit her hard enough to make her let go but I wish I would have bit her so hard she needed stitches. "Don't you bite me!" she snaps. I think I may have said something like, "Then don't grab me so tight!" It turns out she left a HUGE bruise. My parents were naturally pissed and were even considering suing the school. The teacher got in trouble and almost even got fired. I was riding the handicapped bus because my usual driver was such an monster. He had the delusion he was a cowboy and we often had a sub driver while he was off at a rodeo. If he was that cruel to children, I shudder to think of he treated his animals. Anyway, he was never physically abusive but was really mentally and verbally abusive.
He would allow the other kids to be physically abusive to me and some boys that were younger than me talked me into exposing myself to them and nothing was done about it. These boys knew how much I hated close proximity and being touched and would touch me just to get a rise out of me. One morning, one of them started hitting me for no reason or doing that stupid "I'm not touching you!" game and I just lost it and smacked him to make him stop. He then grabbed my arm and dug his fingernails into it as hard as he could. I didn't tell the driver because I was afraid I would have gotten in trouble for hitting him. The fact that the boy was bothering me didn't matter at all. I told the boy's older sister who was in my class and was one of the few kids who was nice and even though she never invited me to play or try to start conversation or intervene in bullying, she never engaged in bullying. She said would tell her parents but I doubt she did. I don't think they boy even got so much as a talking too, yet I have physical scars today.
Most of the abuse was mental but there were lots of times I was physically abused not only by other kids but by teachers as well. My parents eventually got tired of fighting the school and took me out to home school me when the time came for me to start fifth grade. As I said previously, some boys, younger boys talked me into exposing myself to them. Imagine what would happen by the time teenage hormones and sex drive kicked in. I would have been raped and the school would have done nothing about it and even if I was jumped, it would have been my fault in the school's eyes.

I'm not weird, you're just too normal.
Sexually, no - I'm a guy, so it wouldn't likely happen; I guess I'm just lucky.
Physically, depends, I've suppressed a lot of the bullying s**t I've gone through in early school. I do distinctly remember being intentionally led to the deep end of the pool by someone who knew I couldn't swim (in another class), and it's quite an odd memory - I only remember gasping for life, desperately staying above water, unable to reach the ledge (where there was a lifeguard who wouldn't pay attention to me crying for help), and after taking in so much water... but all those details aside, I completely forget how I got out of that mess. I might have drowned. That, and I occasionally was punched, kicked, all that other bullying nonsense; I didn't ever end up with a black eye the next day of class, because I fought back, but it didn't really change anything.
The only thing that stopped bullying was joining the football team; then technically, the bullying just transferred to practice where I was singled out and it was kind of more acceptable at that point. That goes into questionable territory, seriously - If full-on contact is the point of football practice, then...? Wrong place at the wrong time? I never looked forward to practice, never really liked it all that much, and since I didn't play that much, and had impeding anxiety whenever I did, I wonder why I even stayed on the team for five years; Is it my fault?, is this a foreshadowing of other self-injurious behavior?, etc... I don't really get why I stayed. At least I can use the coach on my job applications as a reference.
Then that and everything else stopped about junior year when those who didn't like me left the team, got kicked out, or stopped or something.
As far as my parents, nothing sexual or physical; occasionally there was the corporal punishment, but that's also a nicely gray area.
It would take pages to go into the emotional and mental abuse, though.
I hope so too. Looking back, it seems pretty disturbing that they were displaying those kinds of behaviors when we weren't even 10 years old yet. I shudder to think what kinds of men they've grown to become. Wherever they are, they should be kept far away from women.
Yes... physical, emotional, and... hmm. I guess I would call it "sexual harassment", if I can call it anything, both by "family" and fellow students.
I survived. The person in question is no longer part of our family, and good riddance.

I've had a few minor experiences, but to say I've been "abused" would trivialize people who've had it much worse. So no, not really. I am pretty sensitive when it comes to the topic though.

I had an idiot set fire to the back of my t-shirt in a study hall and all the study hall teacher did was take his cigarette lighter away from him. Funny thing was it was one of regular bullies who put the fire out and told on the teacher for not doing anything. To quote him"So, your just going to let him set fire to that ret*d kid?" The teacher just looked down and went back to reading his magazine and did not say a damn thing.
I had some senior kick my legs out from behind me while walking down stairs when I was a freshman in high school. A bunch of girls that were behind him saw the whole thing they tried to help me up but just made it worst for me since I do not like to be touched.
When I was six I was playing by myself with my matchbox cars and some 16 year old kid beamed me in the face with a basketball so my father and uncle beat the s**t out of him in the middle of the street. I still remember how warm the blood felt running across my lips. He told the cops it did not hurt me because I did not cry but my t-shirt looked like I had my throat cut.
Before they put sidewalks on the street I use a lot cars would swerve at me to force me into high snow banks as I walked on the icy snow covered road because the snow was too high to walk on or jump over.
I have had food, beer bottles, and batteries thrown at me from passing cars. But no eggs water ballons like the ones my friends and I threw at people.
When I was 7 my brother and I were playing near a shallow creek looking for crayfish when a 12 year old kid asked if I knew how to swim I said no so he dragged me over to a deep part of the creek and pushed me in. My 5 year old brother had to run to get help because the kid would push me back into the water when I pulled my way out of the water. His parents kept proclaiming their son as innocent my father told him if he caught him walking in the street he would run him over. The cop laughed when my father said that and just gave the kid a stern warning.
I pretty much had other run ins with jerkoffs like people sneaking up nehind me so they could put me in choke holds from behind. When I would report them the school officials would tell me be more alert so I could run away.
I got off lucky no one ever molested me but I was threatened with "ass rape" several times in my freshman year when I barely weighed a hundred pounds.
People wonder why I am so full of hate and mistrust. I am always quick to fight or accuse someone of something.

I shook my head when I read this. Not to be sexist, but it just seems so low and ugly if a guy physically bullies a girl. And for what? Being different?
there is no earthly limit to human depravity.

I don't know if it is an American thing but I remember a guy getting pummeled by a pretty large group of guys for slapping his girlfriend in the hallway at school.
