Even in Australia people wear boots in summer. Ugg boots actually. It was a trend for a little while.
Lots of male teens wear reeboks with skinny jeans too.

Great list. I break the one about not running when alone, and people always shout from their cars "Run Forest, Run!" I can't help but take off on a random sprint at tims. I don't know why, but sometimes I just need to jog. I can't help it.

There are so many invisible rules. The ones I think about the most involve approaching and talking to females since I'm single. But, I can't think of what they are right now.

Good list.

I'm feeling cold just reading this lol (I hate cold)

Yes it was lost on me.
But I can see it now.

I've wrote out a load of Street Rules, stop me if I've missed any:-

Don’t laugh when you’re on your own, even if you see something really, really funny
Don’t EVER talk to yourself
Don’t walk along miserable
Don’t run
Don’t cry
Don’t cover your ears
Don’t itch your head
Don’t have greasy hair
Don’t bite your fingernails
Don’t fall over
Don't slip over, even if it's really really icy (as if that's possible!)
Don’t wear big thick boots when it’s not snowing
Don’t wear sunglasses when it’s not sunny
Don’t have hoods up or umbrellas up when it’s not raining
Don’t wear a scarf on cold days in the summer
Don’t get in a rage with other people
Don’t say the wrong thing when you are asking for something in the shop
'[/quote]

Half of those "don'ts" are what is in fashion right now. I see hipsters wearing boots, scarves, and sunglasses all the time. Some of them even have greasy hair.

Greasy hair can be a good thing on the right man.

Me too, in reverse. I don´t pick up sarcasm, even in real life, unless it´s really obvious- (exaggerated voice, etc.) But in my defense, I´ll add that some of your additions do, in fact, seem to be NT unwritten rules!

Nice thread! A lot of the rules on your list are no problem where I live, I can scratch me if I want, wear what I want and slip over if that happenes. Here are some rules I can come up with right now:

Dont pick on your skin.
Dont walk around with an open mouth.
Dont show or tell anybody that you're not comfortable. -Do as if everything is alright at any time.
Dont criticize too much, and never citicize yourself.
Dont smile to guys unless you are interested.
Dont give away your phone number to guys you hardly know.
Dont talk about things you think are uninteresting (people notice, so keep it short).
Dont treat the authorities as if you have known them for ever.
Dont loose the concentration on the information a person is speaking about.
If you loose concentration; tell it, and dont do as if you still know what the person is speaking about.
Dont sit down on the ground if you're wearing high heels and mini skirt. (Because of this and because its extremely uncomfortable, I wear as good as never high heels, and with only mini skirt it is ok to sit on the ground).
Dont make too many grimaces in a short time.
Dont tuch anybodys hair etc. because you wander how it feels like.
If you enter somewhere; say hello to everybody, and if you leave; say goodbye to everybody.
Dont talk to girls about science (only the few you know are interested).
Never forget which day it is.

And none of my above rules are sarcastic.

Quote:
Many of these don't make sense

Exactly. None of them make sense, but these are all according to the way the majority of NTs live their lives around.

Quote:
How can someone control themselves from slipping over?

Nobody can, but apparently NTs seem to think you can. Well, whenever I've slipped over on ice, or almost slipped over, I always get strange looks and sniggering at me, as though slipping over is ''wrong''. When I see somebody slip over on ice, I don't laugh. I either go to help them if they are hurt, or if they're all right I either just ignore them, or ask if they're OK. But NTs (mostly approx aged 7 to 35) can't handle that. So they turned it into one of these silly unwritten don't-do-this-or-you'll-get-laughed-at rules.

Quote:
How can one control saying the wrong thing?

I know that we all make mistakes sometimes. But once when I went into a cake shop with my NT friend and for a Belgian Cake, the cashier gave me one and I gave her the money, and as we were walking back out my friend started panicking at me and saying, ''that cashier woman in the cake shop probably thinks your stupid!'' and I asked, ''why?'' and my friend said, ''because it's not called a Belgian Cake - it's called a Belgian Bun! How could you be so embarrassing and stupid?!'' Personally, I didn't see anything stupid or embarrassing in that at all - but perhaps, to NTs, making a tiny mistake when asking for something in a shop goes a long way.

Quote:
Many of these things are things people can't control and they're minor

You're spot on - they're too minor, but any minor little thing you do in the street, it goes a long way with NTs, and even the slighest little thing can cause humiliation - it's just the way NTs have made it out to be. There are about over a thousand of these minor little rules, and most NTs seem to develop the knowledge of these rules naturally - the only ones these don't apply to are babies and toddlers (lucky things!! !) But these rules are nothing to remember - they just come naturally. Most come natural to me too, but there are some what I have either come natural to me late, or not at all.

NTs are like sheep.

Thing is, most NTs I know do each and every one of these things. Well, perhaps except for talking and laughing all by themselves.

I have always wondered though why on Earth Penny in The Big Bang Theory sometimes wears tops with straps and shorts with really heavy-looking boots indoors. I mean, the character is designed to be very 'normal' so as to contrast with the geekiness of the boys and I don't know if it ever snows in Pasadena.

Heavy boots in any weather is a California fashion. So if the show takes place in Pasadena, it makes sense that the character follows California fashions. That's what I meant about these rules being location-specific (except for the one about raging at people- a no no everywhere). The OP gives a Great Britain location and the fashion rules there are very different from the fashion rules in Pasadena.

Why thanks, Janissy. Makes sense now.

Well actually the sarcasm in the original list didn't show very well - at least for me. I am an Aspie, you know.

I talk to myself all the time and even end up talking to objects.

Me at the coffee shop staring at the baked goods.

Me, "Which one of yous wants to be my breakfast? Well obviously not the cookies, cookies in the morning no thank you. The scone looks delicious. What about some cornbread?"

Worker, "Can I help you, sir? Get a drink ready for you?"

Btw, I don't generally hear them the first time.

Me, "Maybe I'll get some cornbread and some tea, or maybe just a mocha,"

Worker, "Sir?"

Second time I kind of am aware of it.

Me, "Oh yeah sorry....talking to the pastries."

Yeah that's happened before telling them that I'm talking to their pastry goods. Maybe that shouldn't be something I should say.

But what about when reading funny cards? I can't laugh then.

Don’t laugh when you’re on your own, even if you see something really, really funny
Don’t EVER talk to yourself : I do it
Don’t walk along miserable: I do it
Don’t run: once in a while
Don’t cry: sometimes
Don’t cover your ears: sometimes
Don’t itch your head: if my heads itchy, im gonna do it, never heard of this 1
Don’t have greasy hair: sometimes
Don’t bite your fingernails: sometimes
Don’t fall over
Don't slip over, even if it's really really icy (as if that's possible!) Rolling Eyes
Don’t wear big thick boots when it’s not snowing: i think u can if its relatively cold but not nessarily snowing, i generally do it when its below 60
Don’t wear sunglasses when it’s not sunny: people do this quite often, i don't however
Don’t have hoods up or umbrellas up when it’s not raining: do it when its cold, i like to keep my head warm
Don’t wear a scarf on cold days in the summer
Don’t get in a rage with other : i do it
Don’t say the wrong thing when you are asking for something in the shop

Dont pick on your skin: i do it
Dont walk around with an open mouth.
Dont show or tell anybody that you're not comfortable. -Do as if everything is alright at any time: took me a while to learn this 1
Dont criticize too much, and never citicize yourself: i do it a lot
Dont smile to guys unless you are interested: i do it if they say something funny
Dont give away your phone number to guys you hardly know: i do it all the time, nothing bad has ever happen
Dont talk about things you think are uninteresting (people notice, so keep it short). learning this 1
Dont treat the authorities as if you have known them for ever.
Dont loose the concentration on the information a person is speaking about.
If you loose concentration; tell it, and dont do as if you still know what the person is speaking about.
Dont sit down on the ground if you're wearing high heels and mini skirt. (Because of this and because its extremely uncomfortable, I wear as good as never high heels, and with only mini skirt it is ok to sit on the ground). its only ok if ur wearing shorts underneath, u dont want people seeing underneath ur skirt
Dont make too many grimaces in a short time.
Dont tuch anybodys hair etc. because you wander how it feels like.
If you enter somewhere; say hello to everybody, and if you leave; say goodbye to everybody. Not good with this 1
Dont talk to girls about science (only the few you know are interested). i don't necessarily agree with this 1, id say in general dont talk to the non-science majors about science unless u know their interested, guy or girl, it doesn't matter. Being that Im a girl in the sciences, I find this a bit insulting, I know plenty of girls that are into science
Never forget which day it is.: do this all the time

How am I supposed to remember all of this. With the exception of talking to myself and running, I pretty much do most of these and dont really care what people think. As long as they dont try sending the men in white coats after me, I dont care about following the minor ones...the big ones, ya I follow them.

I do pretty much all of those (much to my mom's chagrin), and I have one to add.

Never wear shorts after Halloween.

I do anyway because I can't stand pants, but everyone freaks out.

"Don’t wear big thick boots when it’s not snowing"

Better tell that to, like, my entire city.
Actually only half are wearing fluffy boots.. the other half of them are wearing big rubber rain boots. (When it's bone dry out.)

PS sandals in snow for the win.
