All of us autistic people have our different abilites, I have a passion for driving a vehicle, also I know how to check everything on my vehicle and make sure all the fluids are good, also I can drive stick shift with no problem, I love stick shift and don't like driving automatic but own a SUV that automatic I hope to eventually get a stick shift again

From everything I've read, Aspies may be safer and higher-skilled drivers than NT's. Some of the factors may include that Aspies tend not to be competitive or aggressive, and are often scientific-minded.
Although aspies drive very 'scientifically' as you put it, I tend to start driving aggressively because one of my obsessions is with roads and the laws that govern them, and I get impatient with all the other drivers not driving "properly" to my standards.

I can drive pretty well, especially when it's busy or rainy or challenging in some way so I can hyperfocus on it. If it's boring and easy and lots of repetitive terrain I get sleepy. Also, I would only attempt to drive a manual shift in a dire emergency. I've delivered pizzas as a job and was fairly decent at it I suppose (didn't get any tickets or have any wrecks). The ability to memorize terrain and maps and know where things are relative to one another is very helpful in navigating new areas. I'm always building little maps of where stuff is in my head. I sometimes freak out my parents with my ability to get to where I'm going using some novel route that neither they nor I had taken before.

I'm high functioning every way but socially. It's dealing with people that creates all my problems.
