And that would probably be the sort of overly negative comment his mother is refering to. It has an element of truth, but is phrased in an needlessly bitter way. It started off truthful and meaningful, gave the reason for the real pain alot of us suffer, but then you assummed that OPs mom thought of us here as "things", when that is an assumption and probably not true at all. And just blown out of proportion.

There are alot of positive people on here too i.e. Moog and Hopegrows. You have to be discerning and not take every comment as gospel. Some people are just wrapped up in cycles of hatred and negativity. I find that it tends to be the older, more mature members with a bit of life experience that can bring some positivity.

Given my experiences with people in general I wouldn't be surprised if the OP's mother did view matter of fact reports as overly negative.

Of course, we can't know for sure, so I'm not saying she did, just that it wouldn't surprise me.

you're right MUSICBOXFOREVER, i have no right to comment on wrong planet. maybe it's possible to come up with a way to get me banned so everyone can be happy, happy, happy without having to know about people who have suffered from things like torture. here i go again.......oh so sorry. my apologies

I'm glad you do this. I had no idea there were people like you until I started reading your writing. I'm trying to find words for why I appreciate this, and struggling, but something like that it helps me see how misleading assumptions and appearances can be, and hopefully it will help me make fewer wrong judgements and assumptions based on appearances in the future (although I'm sure I will still make many, because getting rid of old patterns of assumptions is hard.).

I can understand why she would think WP is a negative place, most of us have been in some seriously dark places emotionally. Sharing our fears and doubts at least makes us realize we're not the only ones with fears and doubts. Being around overly negative people can bring you down and should be watched for, but being around overly positive people can give you unrealistic expectations as well. I think it was the Budha that recommended "all things in moderation", not bad advice if you ask me.
