I have noticed that sometimes when I talk about myself, people get offended at what I say. I don't say anything normally because I think it's their problem.

I never understood why people get offended when someone is talkingt about themselves. A good example would be if I was calling myself lazy and stupid, someone reads it and takes offense to what I say. Uh why would someone be offended with someone putting themselves down or insulting themselves? I didn't call anyone lazy or stupid, only me.

They take it personally. People can identify with work they done (like, choosing a dress), if you criticize or seam to criticize there work, they take it to mean that they are criticized.

I think a remedy to this is to add something positive at the end or around what you really care to say. It doesn't matter how small that positive is, it can be outright flattery of some sort. Depending on your wording, don't negate the positive part by using a "but" to connect it with the rest of the message, use an "and".

i think these lecture has a lot of good advice for us.

Isn't that what having AS is all about? I am constantly wondering about that and always getting into trouble.

The interesting thing is that since my diagnosis, I have been able to actually catch and correct a LOT of my literal translation issues which often got me into trouble. Other times I just cannot make the leap and I have to explain that I could not make that leap due to my AS. People generally understand I have found.

Of course I still never know when I leave a person if I have offended them. I can only ever do my best and try to be good in my heart. I cannot own anything after that.

People are way too sensitive, IMO. I think of them like this: "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!" It's true. I don't see what is wrong with stating the obvious, like telling someone they look sick or tired or "Hey, what's up with that weird bump on your foot?" What's wrong with that? I'm not saying it in a mean way.

i offend people all the time. The problem is that I do it unintentionally, whereas TV personalities do it on purpose and it is accepted better that way. I wish I were on TV... then people would accept it as OK. I'm in the wrong field, maybe...
