OK, I'll use it, just this once.

Those only bother me a little bit, but I think I would get ill if I had to go into (or maybe even just near) that building someone mentioned.

I've never heard the term before, but googled it and found that same photo. I don't know why, but it seriously weirds me out. I feel really uncomfortable looking at it.

This crooked house is evil It devoured the life of some girl who last year came out of the disco which is in this building. Her name was Iwona Wieczorek and she is like a Polish, adult, smaller scale Maddie McCann. Really. It's the most famous, hyped by the media and one of the most mysterious cases of disappearances in Poland. No one has heard about her since that fateful night when Iwona, after a quarrel with her buddies came out of The Crooked House and vanished into the thin air. There were many theories as for what hapened to her, like that she was kidnapped and raped by some young man who later committed suicide because of the pricks of conscience (the newest one; he wasn't even present in this city at the moment of her disappearance). Google her on Youtube; there are clips with English subtitles with her.

You, sir, like many who don't know/admit to it, have some degree of Trypophobia.
As for my theory on it, the problem boils down to the fear of the unknown (which has not really been discussed yet), and the fear of it happening to you/your skin (as many people have said).

I definitely have trypophobia. I remember discussing this strange fear with my brother when I was 12 in the context of things that are really weird and feel inherent that we don't understand. I was much more interested than he was. The anxious reaction has to do with wanting to escape my body. In addition to trypophobia, I also have on/off oct that started in 5th grade, and also synesthesia. I am also an artist. I just made the connection between a lot of my art pieces which involve lots of little components of things, usually in some kind of order. I'm wondering if this order is to counteract the disorder of the "little things" in trypophobia. I have always had a weird obsession with things like paper, that come with a very many of the same thing in an ordered context. And finally, I also have synesthesia, since I am relating all my neurological statistics. I am incredibly interested in this neurological phenomenon, evidenced by that I am still writing even though I feel blechh just thinking about this subject. I have seriously tried desensitizing myself from this phobia, because I kind of like the thrill of such a strong reaction to something that seems kind of harmless. The weirdest instance of this problem was when I got a gash in my arm, and there was one stage of the healing process which I glanced at one day and almost threw up. thinking about it makes me queasy. Anyway, I am currently studying neurobiology and cognitive science, likely because of the wide array of neurological phenomena that I have experienced. I don't have that. I never even heard that until this topic.

I do have phobias related to spider webs, electrical outlets, mirrors, and bees. I probably have more but I can't think of them at the moment.

Yes, those are some of the shapes that I consider very uncomfortable to look at. I don't know that it's a "phobia" exactly--it's more of the visual equivalent of nails-on-a-chalkboard. They have to be three-dimensional, though, or else very good two-dimensional representations (photographic quality, at least) to really bother me.

My God. There is actually a name for it.

I have it, probably mildly. For me, it's centered on oak galls, large "cancerous" wood swellings in oak twigs, abnormal growth caused by a hormone produced by several species of wasp eggs/larvae, who come to maturity in their self-built house, then come out. My back lot has a lot of oak trees infested by the wasps, and even as a child I "knew" those things were nasty, whether they were young and growing, or old and riddled with hollows, their wasps having emerged. Any time I see one on a twig that I can reach, I prune it off and throw it on a fire, even though I know I'm burning to death living beings. They're beings which ought not to live (I feel), even though I know that God designed them, I wish He hadn't.

Can you not with that picture? Even typing or thinking of the word trypophobia makes me sick and panicky. I'm in my week of college finals. I DIDN'T NEED MORE STRESS BUT NO. I HAD TO KNOW IF THERE WAS SOME CORRELATION BETWEEN IT AND AUTISM.

I love to look at trypophobia pictures. That picture on the first page was beautiful.

I feel slightly uneasy when I see those Trypophobia photos but I don't feel sick or need to look away. In fact, I'm more intrigued and want to keep looking as I can tell there's something odd going on. My wife, son and daughter all have it and feel nauseous when they come across a texture they don't like. If you remember that plane crash a year or so ago, my wife couldn't look at the footage of the wing that they'd found because of its bobbly texture.

Trypophobia isn't real.
