I'm a very avid sports fan and fellow Yankee/Giant NJ-ian myself. This year I'm not that into it as I have some serious personal issues causing me to fight off suicidal thoughts all day everyday.

Otherwise, I'm big into fantasy for football and baseball, and even thought I'm not great at math go get into sabrmetrics and have for a decade. When I cared I was a big fangraphs reader... so that sorta stuff.

Do like what the Yanks did in finally deciding to do a mini-rebuild and they got some prospects now at least. And then theres alywas Bryce Harper in a few years...

I hope Bryce Harper gets out of his slump. I don't know why he's batting .233, though he still has a decent on base percentage.

He just doesn't have it this year.

Well some would say no lineup protection... depending on what you believe about the effects of lineup protection that is... I haven't delved too into the numbers but... looks like he's chasing alot of bad pitches at quick glance. Which would be a result of poor lineup protection. HE started off the season great in April, but there's no reason to pitch to him. And any good player wants to put up numbers, not everyone can be like what Barry Bonds was and just let them walk him 180 times. IT takes a lot of discipline for that.

I'm a big Bryce Harper fan. I just hope his skills aren't declining for some reason, or that he has some hidden injury.

Well at what, 23, his skills would not be eroding at all. He's not havign an awful year, just not a very good one. It happens. He's at an age where many players are still in the minors...

Injury is possible as he plays an all out style, but has toned that down.

To be very honest--except in slight spurts when he walks and steals second--his value to the Nationals is minimal this year. His defense is consistent, though---even though he sometimes misplaces some balls. He has killed so many rallies. And I'm a big fan of his--remember.

Perhaps Murphy (a former Met, as you well know) was the beneficiary of teams pitching around Harper. He's really on a tear; he just might win the MVP!

As a mets fan I sure hope he does not.

Back more on topic I was an baseball and hockey(NY Rangers) fanatic until recently. I still have a general knowlege of what is going on and read the sports sections every day but it is not the same. What happened? I got diagnosed and autism became a special interest. The time I used to spend watching games I spend on Wrong Planet and my multitasking skills are poor.

I used to be obsessed with the statistics of all sports when I was a kid.
