how do you experience laughter?

I think I have a good laugh, when it's genuine. When it's a courtesy laugh, not so much, and it's more likely to be that way in public.

It's not really possible to listen to your own laugh, while you're laughing. A while ago, I tape recorded my own laugh and I use it as a computer sound effect. I guess that is weird. But that way I can listen to it and know that I have a good laugh.

I laugh whenever I feel like it.

I try not to laugh at inappropriate times, so I wait until someone else is laughing to laugh loudly.

Oh, and by myself, I have sort of an evil laugh.

A lot of my laughter is either nervous, (like acting like you're having fun in a social situation just to make things less awkward) or fake (laughing at other's jokes to be polite...and I hate most people's sense of humor).

The only time I actually laugh is when I encounter something I find funny, and by then, I can't stop laughing. Most people don't understand my sense of humor, so if I'm around others, I often have to hold it in.

I very rarely laugh, especially at things others would find funny. But when I do laugh It's usually at something no one else finds funny as I find I have a more satirical and ironic (do those sound correct?) sense of Humor (I will go on and on from something Stephen Colbert says on The Colbert Report) I also laugh whenever I see someone else laugh...

I do understand the things others find funny, and I get why they find them funny, but I just don't. Unfortunately this usually leads to me attempting to make a humorous remark regarding what the person said, but they take it literally or in a different way than intended and assume that I didn't get the it...

BTW My laugh, when I do laugh, is pretty loud and it sure fills up a room When I find something exceptionally funny, I laugh enough that I can barely talk (Usually from the Colbert Report ). And when I'm already laughing, just the slightest thing will keep me laughing longer than I would have.

I rarely laugh genuinely when I'm with people - usually when everyone else does, I'm there with a huge grin on my face, and not always it's a sincere one. People with loud and weird laughs freak me out, it's one of the sounds that I can't stand. Sometimes I even judge people by the way they sound.
Some movies and TV shows make me laugh, that's true...

Alot of people describe my laugh as "psychotic"

I've never really thought about it, but it can be anywhere to very quiet and unnoticeable to the extreme of laughing so hard it makes my eyes water. But I sometimes laugh at weird times which can be annoying because it can come off as rude in some situations or just confusing or weird. Not sure what to do about that.

I have a nervous laugh, its usually at a social gathering. I`ll laugh when its not appropriate, and everyone else wonders what it was I was laughing at!

As far as I remember, I didn't really laugh out loud till the age of 14-15. I had to learn it.

Now I laugh quite often and loud. I don't think there's anything strange about my laughter except the fact that I often laugh at inappropriate situations.

Usually mine is only staged, to be appropriate in certain situations. I don't naturally laugh out loud at all, no matter how hilarious I find something to be.

I laugh at practically everything. People have commented on it, but I don't really care about that because I always say, ''well wouldn't you rather me be laughing than being miserable and boring?'' Laughing helps my confidence. They say if you laugh, you can't possibly be scared, and that saying does actually work with me. Even when I'm feeling overwhelmed in a social situation surrounded by people I don't know, if something came up what made me laugh, I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed.
Once I was with a friend, walking on a slippery muddy bank near a shallow lake, and it was pretty scary because I did not want to fall into the lake (it was a freezing cold day). But my friend started really laughing, which made me actually think of the crazy situation we were in and it suddenly made me laugh too, and I then wasn't scared any more, and we both found a way out of the situation.

I like laughter.

I never seem to find the same things funny that people around me do. When people start laughing though I tend to laugh too just so I fit in as much as possible, and many people have consequentially told me that my laugh sounds forced and/or fake. When I actually find myself amused by something though (almost never when others are), I don't feel any urge to laugh out loud. My brain just sort of processes something as amusing and then says "right, time to move on".

Often when something seems funny I just say it's "funny." Sometimes I laugh, although I usually don't make any noise when I do it.

I actually find the sound of loud laughter harsh and unpleasant, and it can sometimes make me a bit ragey and upset. Not all laughter does this to me, though, it depends on a lot of things.

I go to comedy shows and I'm unfair on the comedians as I tend to smile a lot at jokes and have a silent laugh. But, if they do something that I find hilarious (like when one unexpectedly stripped down to a green leotard, at the end of the show and I almost lost control of my bodily functions), I have a rather loud laugh, but this doesn't come out that often. But, I also cry a lot when I find something really funny. I can go into silent hysterics and, to an onlooker, I might look upset. The last time I found myself doing this was when I was at a concert my daughter was in. She stood out a mile from the other kids, due to her antics. Other parents might have been embarrassed at their child doing such things, but I was laughing silently, with tears rolling down my face. (The manager told me afterwards that I should be proud and that she was a joy.)
