Hmm, I thought that autism was super duper hard to diagnose in adults. Ever notice how easy it is to get a diagnosis once you become a mass murderer?

I look forward to a panicked mother with an AS child going on to Salon to insist that autistic children be kept under tight control to protect them from growing up to be killers.

Just like what happened after the Arizona shooting.

Maybe I'm be naive, but I dont get how everyone reacts in fear, that this will be bad for other neurodiverse.

It could be a liberating thing, and help neurodiverse.

There are many neurodiverse poster boys and girls too. These people would step up as shining lights. We can be made to look like very good people too!

If the public turned on us, driven by media and bad government policy, it would soon be very evident that we are usually the good guys, treated badly, and some tiny percentage go crazy.

Breviek is just the latest, and he may not be the last, but the time may now be right to remove the discriminatory policies that isolate, demonize and ostracise, and create these monsters.

However, all that will probably happen is the head will go in the sand, and the status quo will remain

I've known schizoids. They are just generally very independent-minded people who would rather not talk to people, have (much) human contact, and generally are lorry drivers and such.

I just pray he is not mentally ill or autistic. I hope he has anti social personality disorder and that is the only disorder that I will accept. Otherwise, if he is autistic or schizophrenic, then it just hurts my kind. Our kind. It will make people fear the mentally ill even more. it will make them think all mentally ill people are murderers. All of them are evil. I know so called "insane" people. One of them has schizoaffective disorder like I do. He doesn't hurt others and is more of a threat to himself. Just like me. While there are murderers that are insane, not all of them are. In fact people with mental illness are more likely to become victims of violence (unless its anti social personality disorder they don't care about the law or other people's feelings or rights) than the cause of the crime.

From what I've read in the media, the description points toward personality disorder. Same with the Arizona shooter Jared Loughner.

In fact, I'd say the same about Ted Kaczynski. IMO, there's not enogh evidence for anything more.

It amazes me they get diagnosed by strangers after they break the law. The only one who came close to getting diagnosed with anything before they flipped was Loughner and yet he wasn't "insane" enough to be put into a facillity. In fact, he could have very easily been treated as an outpatient, yet he managed to be sane enough to stay out of treatment.

if he manages to get declared sane... he will go to jail for 21 years (maximum by law in norway).... or if the prosecution succeed by using a never before used terror law... max 30 years...

on the other hand, if he is declared insane, he can be sentenced to indefinite institutionalization... meaning they could keep him locked away the rest of his life...

some people certainly would hope they can proof the latter... i guess.

21 years is outrageous, that's like 3 months for every person he murdered.

It could also mean he goes into super sane mode and gets out early for good behavior. If he does have a sociopathic personality that feat would not be difficult for him to accomplish. Sociopaths are master manipulators. They can get people to feel sory for them, easy.

Very unlikely - an anti-social will not kill (or risking death) for a cause.

Breivik and The Unabomber (and me, btw...) ressembles a bit this passage of

Quote:

Sadly, I suspect that, if he is some disorder, will be on the autistic or schizophrenic spectrum. The "lonely idealists" (and this is what he is, even if despise his ideals) are usually from that quarters (or at least are close).

He'll never get out, don't you worry about that. Also, he'll have people in prison looking to harm him as well, so they'll have to keep him away from everyone else for his own safety.

The are going to charge him with something that carries a 30 year max. I forget what it was. And it's still a travesty.

the problem is that some interviews with his former friends/classmates/colleagues/or-whatever i read in the media, paint all a picture that he was rather normal... rather nothing particular... rather not typical ASD or otherwise different... just a little odd at a later stage in life as a young adult... nothing to pinpoint really... he started to be different and withdrew himself from his friends and companion not so long ago in adult life, excusing his withdrawal by stating he was writing a book.......

his attorney stated though that he "must be insane"..........

I dont really understand "diagnosing" criminals. People kill because they are inmoral bas***ds, nothing more or less.
I think the search for a diagnosis is alot like finding an excuse for such behavior.
Psychology has made the world full of excuses for our behavior...50 years ago he would have been painted as the monster he is. Today his horrendous acts are diagnosed which paints everyone else with that condition as the monster.
Who is the real lunitic here??

There's people who share his opinion all over Europe. How do you know he didn't communicate or meet with any of them? How do you know he has no connections to hate groups? Maybe he traded in his non hater friends for hater ones?

He certainly does not stand alone in his ideology. Perhaps he is a wake up call, alerting of a far greater problem that grips an entire continent. Call him what he is, the epitome of intolerance and he certainly isn't the only one!

Why are there people who are trying to make this what it is not when it's as plain as noses on faces what this is. He's a right wing extremist hater who went on a shooting spree and bombed a building. He is not insane. He does not have Autism. Yeah, he could be a sociopath. He is definitly a terrorist. End of story!

It's the same with Jared Loughner.
