Congratulations on the new member of your "family". You're catching a lotta flack for the name. Just wanted to say that I was friends with a girl in High school by the same name your friend chose, so it's been popular for quite a while. Dunno if a name influences the person later in life or not...that would be a good scientific study. IMHO, I don't like common names, and wouldn't dare name my children a name that everyone else has, primarily because I have a very common name myself of Steven that was very popular back in the seventies apparently, because there was at least 2 or 3 other guys with the same name in just about every class I was in school, and there's even two of us at my office! So, I'm going to give you and your frend a thumbs up for picking out a unique name that chances are won't be all that common!

Hi guys, to be honest, from your name the baby thread, i can't see many names much better or worse then Hope. Anyway, i you had spent 9 months hoping that this baby would be born and be born healthy and easily, then you'd understand the name.

Anyway, whats so great about boring, ordinary names....except that you can pronounce and spell them? Also most names have some meaning, and often quiet a strange one....we could have picked a name that meant hope but was a different word....seems abit round about to me.

So thank you very much for all your suggestions but i think we'll stick to the name we picked, it suits her.

You could always name your baby after a brand name or company and see if you could get a nice payout. I remember once reading about certain companies like Acclaim Entertainment wanting to pay parents to name them after their products. For example, Acclaim wanted to pay parents for naming their kid Turok, after a video game they produced.

How is her health?

She's doing well and is three days old. Lots of feeding, burping, etc. the usual, so far she's been a very good baby and she's very hugable too.
