I learnt the months in order by the songs too.

Now the months have a location in times.
Jan to April are all around the same location, then you've got the middle months and the end of year months.
It's a synesthesia thing. They also have colours.

I tend to forget what month it currently is and only remember depending what band is touring and when or day that program is on TV.

I know months but I have a similar problem to this. It concerns the alphabet. I know my ABCs and all but once I get past f it's hard for me to remember what comes after what unless I recite the entire alphabet "ABC" song in my head. If someone asks me what comes after the letter " i " I have to recite ABCDEFGHIJ" in my head before saying, " J ". If someone asks me what comes after A or B or C or D or E or F, I don't have to recite, I just say whatever. If they ask, " What comes after D?" I say " E " without thinking. I've always thought it was really strange and sorta slow that I can't be more spontaneous about something I learned in kindergarten.

A Harry Potter videogame helped out with this.
You had to enter in code words and had to keep going back and forwards through the alphabet. Annoying but now I know where each letter is supposed to be.

I might have that game for Nintendo Gamecube. I haven't played it much, though, so I am not sure what's on it.

Quote:
There's another simple trick for this. Just curl your hands into fists and you got your calender.

Ignore your thumbs, the knuckle of your pinkie (31 days) is January, the space between your knuckles is February, the next knuckle (ring finger) is March (31 days), the space between is April (30 days)...

Starting with your index finger, August is the first knuckle (31 days) on your other hand, September is the space between (30 days)...

Knuckles = 31 days
Spaces between = 30 days, February being an exception

This knuckle technique is how I get the length of the month. Though I start with the index finger knuckle on my left hand as January, and when I run out of knuckles on my left hand I move to the index finger knuckle of the right hand for August.

Of course you need to know the order of the months for this to work :)

I can't remember the rhyme. Which is odd, since I can remember entire conversations I have with people for decades and I'm sure somebody must have told me this rhyme at some point. But it doesn't come at all.

I can order the months, but the bit I find difficult is being able to match the month to its number (especially the ones in the middle of the year).

There is a rhyme for knowing how many days each month has?! Really! For me figuring out the rhyme would be harder than just knowing. It is the same thing every year.

Jan 31
Feb 28 (29 on leap years, years divisible by 4)
Mar 31
Apr 30
May 31
Jun 30
Jul 31
Aug 30
Sep 31

Oct 31
Nov 30
Dec 31

Ok I just typed that in real quick for those that are still wondering.

What the heck is the rhyme? Anyone?

urm... I don't mean to be mean (haha pun...) want to double-check that?

I remember when I first learned my 12 months, I used to forget October.

Oh yeah I never learned how many days each month had until I was a lot older. It took me until I was an adult to realize each month had the same amount of days and it never changes except February every four years, it has the 29th every four years and I learned that in 6th grade.

I learned that every other month has 31 days but there are two months in a row that has 31 days and that is July and August. But honestly I don't see how this is important to know. Same as leap year. But I have know all my months since I was six and it took me a while to remember October.

WTF?

I didn't know this was in some Aspies. I knew my months well ever since I was 3 or 4 years old.

30 days have September, April, June and November, all the rest have 31, except Feburary alone, which has 28 days clear and 29 each leap year.

I remember that poem off by heart (although sometimes the words are altered, but I still know all the months).

It was the thirteenth hour, of the thirteenth day, of the thirteenth month.

We were there to discuss the misprinted calendars the school had purchased.

Brrr. Lousy Smarch weather.

Wow, typed that way too quickly without thinking. Yes, I know that Aug has 31 days and Sep (this month has 30).
I also fully admit that I made a mistake, thanks for pointing that out.
Actually I really need to read my posts before submitting them. I have made many typos, word omissions and other mistakes in other posts and shows an embarrassing level of sloppiness. I swear I am a lot more literate than I appear, I just get sloppy when posting on forums. I think this is because it is an informal medium.
