Yes this is me, for one thing I hate having a cold drought blowing onto me (I think most people do), and for another thing I do it to block out distractions. My bedroom is downstairs, and so I get distracted so easily that it drives me insane! Noises from the kitchen like the kettle is very annoying, so I have to tell people to shut the door of the kitchen whilst using the kettle, and the TV chattering from the living-room is also annoying, so I have to get people to shut the door of the living-room most of the time. But sometimes it's too much trouble for them to just pull the door shut, so I often find myself going into the hall to shut it for them, several times a day, thinking it's taking them a good few years getting used to the idea of shutting a door. Sometimes my brother decides to tease me by pulling the door back open, but if I retaliate, I'm the one being childish by getting angry (or so everybody says), so I can't retaliate. Really, he is the one being childish by teasing me and being annoying and stupid. One day I'm going to get my dad to loosen the hinges on the door of the living-room so that it would shut on it's own, then I don't have to keep coming out of my room to shut it and nobody else has to keep being forced to shut it.

I should win in all this really, because nobody else in the house minds whether the door is open or shut, and it's usually cool in my house so they don't leave it open for cool air anyway, and I'm the only one who wants it kept shut, so it makes sense just to let it be shut.

I always thought everyone kept their door closed because my parents did and so did my brothers.

Yes, always. If I don't keep it shut it's as if my concentration is leaking out into the rest of the house. That sounds weird.

I keep my door shut for sensory issues but also because I feel comfortable with it closed. One day I walked out of my room and every door and window in the house was opened and I started to feel nervous. I wonder if it's a type of mild agoraphobia. I really prefer to be in small rooms but with an easy escape, like be near the door in a cafe.

I listen to my music loud too and when people are over I feel uncomfortable with them being there, no matter who they are. What I hate the most is when my mum just suddenly opens my door and talks to me without knocking. That starts off a little storm in my brain.
