NT cousin 9 years old says she "knows shes smarter then

Being smart isn't everything, I know I am smart on my own, but I know I am smarter if I find other people to perform the tasks when I cannot do, like maths.

My brother who is NT is thinking about doing his Phd in Maths and I can barely do my 12x tables and my other brother has a Phd in social care and is an idiot.

You two should sit down and watch some Jeopardy together. I guarantee you she won't even get a third of the answers right.

I agree with "don't listen to her"... but... well, I don't like the implications when it comes to kids. I remember being young and being dismissed because I was young; and yes, I was inexperienced and didn't know as much as I do now, but there were times when I really was right and the adult was wrong, and I was still dismissed because of how young I was.

I'm guessing you're probably not thinking of it that way, CockneyRebel--you're probably, like me, a little bit annoyed that anybody (nine years old or not) is looking down their nose at somebody else that way. If it were me saying it, I'd be saying, "Don't listen to her; she's being a brat." Not because she's a kid, but because she's being rude. Don't listen to an adult who talks to you like that, either.

Couldn't agree more with this. I've even experienced this type of discrimination here on WP because I'm in my teen years.

One of my cousins was like that when she was 7. If anyone did something stupid, she'd rudely tell them "I'm smarter than you." Everyone ignored her and eventually she stopped. It was kind of annoying when she acted like that.

I agree with this. A couple of years ago one of my nieces told me that she didn't like my face because of my acne, and earlier this year one of my nephews said he hated the coloring technique I use for my art. Kids are notorious for saying whatever is on their mind with little regard for the feelings of others. Just take what they say with a "grain of salt" (meaning don't give too much thought into it).

I thought the same thing. She's a bully.

I have a hard time keeping my cool around people like that, even if they are children. I'd probably cry over it and be really hurt, even though I know better. Some things never change. :(
