I agree with "don't listen to her"... but... well, I don't like the implications when it comes to kids. I remember being young and being dismissed because I was young; and yes, I was inexperienced and didn't know as much as I do now, but there were times when I really was right and the adult was wrong, and I was still dismissed because of how young I was.
I'm guessing you're probably not thinking of it that way, CockneyRebel--you're probably, like me, a little bit annoyed that anybody (nine years old or not) is looking down their nose at somebody else that way. If it were me saying it, I'd be saying, "Don't listen to her; she's being a brat." Not because she's a kid, but because she's being rude. Don't listen to an adult who talks to you like that, either.
Couldn't agree more with this. I've even experienced this type of discrimination here on WP because I'm in my teen years.
