 getting distracted midway through saying something and then forget to start again

or holding it firmly in your head until someone says something to you, and then you forget all about it

Remembering an entire conversation about something trivial and then not picking up an important item from the supermarket because you can't even remember being asked to do so

Walking into a room and then standing there lost and panicky because you can't remember why

Ever get a dream and a memory mixed up?

on a separate note, does anyone get stuck on a conversation, action or thought and roll it around and around in your head and say it quietly aloud and then hope no-one noticed?

Yes, to basically all of the above. Especially the forgetting things at the store due to mentally rehashing conversations. (This happened last week:) someone can call me while I'm at the store and ask me to get something, I'll scribble it down on my list, and still forget it because it wasn't set in my mind as "part of the list" before I left. :?

Yey lists! and charts! and diagrams. I love phone books :D

"needs to write down or draw diagram" haha I like that.

The female Aspie traits chart pretty much sums it up for me. Except for some items in column C, like I don't like talking about feelings or hear others talk about their feelings. I don't throw tantrums or have emotional outbursts. Most of the time I'm very much indifferent. I never cry in public ( I can't remember the last time I actually cried outside my room, or even cried at all) but I really hate injustice and I can get pretty upset about it.

I also have a tendency to interpret too much into people's comments or behaviour. I often think they are mad at me or disappointed when they shut me off for no reason. Especially when I'm really trying to start a conversation and they only reply in one word phrases. I would spend the rest of the day pondering over what I might have done wrong.

I lack social and emotional reciprocity. It has always been like that.... when I was younger my mom would get angry with me because I never replied to greetings, thank yous, compliments, season's greetings, condolences and so on. I still have to force myself to actually _say_ thank you, you're welcome, happy birthday, merry Christmas, I'm sorry for your loss etc.
I'd write the best greeting cards ever, but saying it? I'd rather go mute.

And for some reason almost every conversation I have with NT people that starts with a topic _they_ would like to talk about somehow always drifts into a topic _I_ would rather talk about. Two weeks ago my boss wanted to talk with me about my performance at work... we ended up talking about how many new subway lines there will be in a few years and how much more convenient it will be go to go work.

I recommend elastic shoe laces. I've got plain white ones from a shoe shop and just slip my shoes on/off.

-Stimming (hands/feet, bang head onto wall, pace, rubbing eyes/face, air drumming, tapping fingers on table, biting my cheek, fidgeting (with all I can find, if there's nothing: the skin around the nail of my thumb), cutting, smash fists onto each other, short sudden yells, punching things, but I try not to do most things in public, except the hands/feet, air drumming, tapping fingers, biting cheek and fidgeting)
-Anxiety, startling quickly, a lot of phobias, panic attacks, hyperventilation
-Immature behaviour, looks and interests
-According to others, problems with sarcarsm, but I think I'm quite good at it
-Sensitive to sound + I can't hear people when there's background noise (no ear problems)
-Obsessions
-Can't maintain more than a few friendships at a time
-Hate crowds
-I enjoy making lists, sometimes making the same list over and over again, charts
-When I'm stressed, drunk or feel depressed in public I start fidgeting with all I can find, beer cards, ashes, paper... and sometimes put everything in a certain order.
-Problems with saying 'please' and 'thank you', I know I should but it just doesn't come out of my mouth
-Problems with tying shoelaces, being clumsy, trip

From the female traits list:
-dress comfortably
-not grooming my hair
-youthful for my age (people think I'm 15-17 but I'm almost 20)
-androgynous look, though I try to be feminine
-No sense of identity
-Enjoying sci-fi and children's movies (I prefer movies I've already seen to new movies, because they're predictable)
-Happiest in a controlled environment
-Thought of as gifted, shy and sensitive
-Very musical (multi-instrumental) and artistic
-Interest in games (90s), writing (songs), languages (Japanese and Russian alphabet), psychology (Asperger's and personality disorders)
-High education (until I had personal problems)
-Can be very passionate about a certain course or study, then go completely cold on it quickly
-Trouble holding onto a job (or finding one)
-Obsessions
-Emotionally immature and sensitive
-Anxiety and fear are predominant emotions
-Issues with sounds and touch
-Prone to depression
-Crying meltdowns, when it's too crowded
-Stuttering when stressed
-Very shy, except when they talk about something I'm interested in and know a lot about
-When I'm in a social group, I stop listening and paying attention after a while
-I don't go out much
-No girly girly friends, I do go shopping with one, but only if I really need it
-Staring at people I like, (becoming obsessed and not being able to let go)

One of the main symptoms I have is the sensory overload to sounds. Also if there is too much movement of people around me I start getting anxious.
I do have a few friends that I am able to connect to which is good. They are much older than me though. Only one of them is younger that I am. I am mainly serious when talking to people and it is hard for me to do small talk. I go into the serious stuff right away and I know it can depress people. I am aware of that but can't help it.
I rock back and forth all the time. It gets much worse during times of stress. When there is no stress or very little stress I hardly do any rocking.
Sometimes I make weird movements with my hands. I guess you can call it hand flapping.
My skin is very sensitive to certain materials. Some of the materials make me itch like crazy and I have to take it off immediately, at least now I am aware of what makes me itch so I don't wear that.
I get angry and depressed easily.
Crowds make me go crazy. I can't deal with it and I shut down. I deal with crowds in certain situations though like at PAX (a gaming expo) and airshows. If it has to do with my special interests, then I deal with it but still have problems.
I am not good with the phone and still can't call strangers (I am talking about things like making a doctor appointment or calling a store to see if they have an item I want in or whatever people call places for)
I only sometimes talk to my friends and don't know when its my turn to talk on the phone.
I have an intense interest in both psychology and current events. I know more than most people about the two subjects. Some people have wondered if I am a doctor when talking about psychology! My main obsession in psychology is the psychotic disorders and autism. Basically the things I am diagnosed with.
I look very, very young for my age. I look like I am in my teens and I just turned 29 yesterday. I still get carded for getting alcohol or even getting a lottery ticket or seeing a rated "R" movie.
Even though I am female I have interests that are more male like. Things like building model airplanes, military vehicles (tanks and such), the type of games I play (first person shooters) I have never had a female interest in my life. I never cared for dolls when I was a child.
When I am stressed I don't like being touched even if its light touch. The only touch I deal with at that point is massage.
I have a hard time dealing with any kind of change.
I had hyperlexia as a child but now its more like dyslexia.
OK I think that is at least some of them. I can't think right now.

-I take everything personally
-I am great at pissing people off(it might even be the only skill I have)
-I am slow to understand things....like last person to get a joke, takes me a minute to respond, takes me a while to decide things ect and of course slow to understand social cues and such thus getting it wrong all the time.
-Eye contact makes me so severely uncomfortable I cannot do it unless its kinda rarely only with people I know.
-I'm always on edge/anxious, get set off easily.
-I over-think things
-I suck at expressing myself
-I'm so lame I don't even understand half the stuff I get accused of.....I mean I don't even get the social games so even if I did want to use anything to my advantage or to get at people I couldn't.
-I worry too much what people think
and I am sure I can think of some more, and those are from various issues not just the AS.
