I didn't know this. I've been diagnosed with having Asperger's, OCD, and ADD already, but I thought they were just coexisting conditions associated with Asperger's. This may not be the place for this questions, but if do get a diagnosis of ASPD, will I be branded as a dangerous person? I mean I've always been afraid that, one day, I'll just snap and act on my thoughts, but will they be able to do something or give me advice on how to keep myself from doing those things? I don't think I could handle being put into an psychiatric facility.

I remember when I was in my early twenties and I had so much bottled up and all I wanted to do was walk down a certain street in town and bust and break all the store windows. I wanted to do it really bad at that time but of course I didn't want to pay the consequences for doing something like that so I didn't. When you can't talk or get any help it's tough. We go through very tough things and life is even harder when we're young. I don't know how to reassure you because I'm not you but I would reserve judgment of yourself and maybe look deeper perhaps. Most people can control their impulses so it really shouldn't be an issue for you but I'm really not an expert on these matters. I just don't want to see you concern yourself too much over something like this unnecessarily.

I also don't think a person with an ASPD would concern themselves with it. They might be more inclined to defend or justify who they are than worry about it.

Many of them are common coexisting problems of someone with Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD). I also meet 6/7 of the criteria for ASPD based on the DSM IV. I don't want to jump to any conclusions, especially without being diagnosed by one of my doctors, but the pieces really seem to fit. I'm going to bring it up to them when I see them this week.

So, does anyone know if this is common in people with Asperger's or am I just one of those lucky people with more than one thing wrong with him?

There are a lot of conditions that usually come with aspergers like ADHD, OCD, anxiety, etc. but I don't think antisocial personality is one of them.
I guess it's possible though and I could be wrong.

ASPD and ASD are not common comorbids, but it can happen. The class A and C personallity disorders are a lot more common.

If you're worried about being a sociopath, then you're not a sociopath.

ASPD isn't the same as being a sociopath. Being a sociopath would imply not having any emotions whatsoever. The capacity to feel, doesn't automatically rule out ASPD.

I never admitted to having it. I said that I meet the criteria. If I don't admit it, how am I supposed to get help? I think that, if it's true, I should be telling my doctors.

Wat.

Sociopath is a layman's term and ASPD is the diagnosis that doctor's give people who they feel are sociopaths, maybe NPD in some cases.

Sociopaths do have feelings, they just don't care about anyone else's. They may feel very deeply about anything and everything that concerns them, and feel absolutely nothing for anyone else.

I don't think this is necessarily true, a sociopath generally has NT wiring. They may be aware that something is very wrong with their personality and still discuss it, although they may not terribly bothered by it.

A psychopath, OTOH, is not NT as far as I know. Their brains show up differently on scans but they may also discuss their...erm, situation. If they were a true psychopath it wouldn't really bother them but it doesn't mean they wouldn't be curious.
