I think this is another example of how specific your skills can be. Spelling is one of the areas where I've always felt comfortable in. (As long as the rules stay the same.

) On the other hand, I had and still have great difficulty with other things.

Reading a lot goes a very long way in writing words properly.
"Thorough" really is a tricky word. Some words come to me easily, regardless of how complex the spelling. Others will always remain a mystery to me.

It's actually true, though. ^^ I guess hyperlexia is more common in autism, but there are others who may find it difficult.
