I actually took the title of this thread to mean what would I like to do research about at the moment. I was going to tell you vegetation in the deep south. But that's not what you meant, is it? ;-)

I suppose I'd like to know why my urge to explain things in great detail and give the backstory or history all the time is so hard to resist. I do this so much that it puts people off, even being aware that I'm doing it. In other words, why can't I shut up?

I've never seen you do that on WP. I guess just IRL huh?

I'd really like to see more information about how Autism, esp HFA and Aspergers, effects adults as they age.

we don't just evaporate at 21, or 35 years old.

I would like to know if environmental factors such as diet or lifestyle can alleviate or exacerbate the symptoms of Autism. Very vague, I know.

I'd like to know most about special interests. Why do we have them and why we interested in different things? Like one person might be very interested in video games, someone else might be interested in a certain cartoon.

Thanks everyone! My next question is a little more general but the input is also helpful for the direction and the purpose of the research. With just about every topic each of you shared as a possible research question, I can take them two different ways:

1. I could perform the research with the intent of understanding and potentially explaining the specific behavior for the benefit of the autistic as well as the NT community.

2. Or I could use the specific behaviors as a method of researching the cause of Autism. Very commonly research is performed in such a way so as to use a certain behavior or symptom to trace back to its source and therefore define the cause of it.

I realize that an abundance of research is being performed on the cause of Autism, but I wonder if the Autistic community would rather simply understand the behaviors rather than focus everything on the cause? If finding the cause is the most important to the community then I would rather focus there. If understanding the behaviors is more important, then I would go that direction instead.

Let me know what you think!

This would make an excellent poll question.
