That would be a good thing. If those 98% were not out in public, then that would solve a few problems.

I would have moved im not going to put myself at risk just to prove a point.

I can be the token NT as long as you don't mind that I'm not very typical LOL! I do not know if you are right, but I would have done the same thing and if I was walking with either of my kids and they didn't step behind, I would have had a conversation with them explaining why they should have stepped behind. I do not see how making a turf war over the sidewalk when your opponents are riding bicycles is a good idea.

I think that you did the right thing. Those kids had no business zooming along the sidewalks on their bikes. They should have been riding their bikes in the bike lane, on the road.

Not all places have bike lanes here. It is common to see people, especially kids, riding their bikes on the sidewalks as the streets can be very dangerous.

Best probability of safety is the way I see it.

I've logged thousands of miles on bikes, and have ridden massively crowded trails, etc. accident free. Sadly, I've had to master stopping without having to put a foot down, while people get out of the "NT fog" and move. This is because all moving equipment must yield to pedestrians.

That said, pedestrians can move laterally - bikes can't. So you played your odds right.

Harassment, however, is not acceptable and should be reported to authorities, preferably with a nice discreet video of their behavior!
