Are NT's self aware all the time?

Compared to Aspies they are.

One could argue that Aspies are not self-aware enough. It's all in how you look at it.

I guess my underlying point is, it isn't fair to lump an entire neurological persuasion into one narrowly defined category and then make blanket negative statements. I don't think anyone here likes it when non-autistic people do that to autistics...

How can you confirm this? My statement might also be incorrect, but I rely on my intuition, I've been watching NT's all my life you know, NT's are too ignorant and most of the time see nothing but themselves.

All NT's? Ignorant and self-obsessed? As a whole? Really? Can you confirm this?

I am not arguing against that some NTs are obsessed with themselves or too focused on appearance, etc. I would even agree that there are ignorant NTs out there.

I have been watching NTs my entire life, as well. What I have witnessed is diversity. No two are alike. Blanket statements about any group of individuals are bound to be factually incorrect.

Why are generalizations about out-groups always so acceptable, when no group ever likes others to make generalizations about them? That's what I have never understood. I have sat in predominantly NT forums before and had very similar arguments against them when they lump all autistics into one giant homogenous group, and here I sit doing the exact same thing here.

I need to challenge you on this myself. What is your respective sample space of NT's? There are many NTs out there from different cultures? Have you traveled the world? Have you seen and experienced other cultures? What about primitive cultures? There are villages who never had contact with the outside world and the outside world does not intend to contact them. Would they be considered NT. NTs are varied. There are NTs who like to make hasty generalizations about us. If they did that about aspies what would you think about it? What would be your first thought? I bet you wouldn't like it. I don't like it and I'm sick of it myself. We got to be fair though. We don't need to do as some of them do.

Every culture I have encountered thus far seems to have jerks in it. Jerkiness is not respective of the whole culture. It is just that some people are just jerks through and through. Lene who is a member on here can tell you about a self-absorbed ex-bf who was an aspie. She could not stand him. Cultures are packaged with jerks including aspies. This doesn't mean all of the members of a culture are jerks.

Do you see your body as from the outside in your mind, the way others would see you? Or do you just mean the physical sensation of being in a certain position and having those body parts?

I thought the question was about the former. I have trouble doing that for any length of time, although I normally can visualize other things (real or imaginary) very easily.

It's a personality trait so either can have it. Obviously our obsessions are stronger (and thusly problematic in society).

I do think about what my looks are communicating to other people and how others see me. I don't micromanage it to the extent that some people do (especially people who are in the public eye a lot) but I am always aware of it.

Wow, I can't imagine doing that. That would be mentally exhausting.

I'm self-aware all the time too, because I don't like being judged or shown up or have a bad name for myself. I can also feel if I am doing something to stand out, like if I am wearing something that looks funny, I can kind of sense that I look funny. But I do have a neat figure, so I look nice in a lot of things (is what people say).

I don't think teenagers always have self-awareness. They don't seem to realise how intimidating they are being at times.
