I was diagnosed once by a psychologist who did a more thorough assessment than my second official diagnosis by my current psychiatrist.

Being diagnosed twice, you have no doubt at all you could be autistic. That's true for me least who has some pretty obvious symptoms.

So far, I've had two psychologists and one psychiatrist who confirm that Aspergers is the best description for what's wrong with me.

And the psychiatrist added "ADHD features."

Oh, and they put me on a "medical deferment," which means I can't deploy to a war zone and they don't trust me to dodge rocket attacks.

Ain't it grand when everyone agrees you're kooky? :P

I had a professional tell me I have Asperger's but not diagnose me because she couldn't diagnose me (because she wasn't a specialist who would diagnose people with Asperger's - she didn't feel she knew the spectrum well enough, and then an official diagnosis. I'm really tempted to get a second official diagnosis next year when the DSM-5 comes out in order to change my diagnosis from Asperger's to Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I'd hope two times is enough for an SSI application.

It's okay. I was diagnosed with ADD and Asperger's as a kid. Mom didn't tell me until a bit into adulthood, after I'd been diagnosed a second time (been diagnosed three times already).
