It also apparently applies with bipolar, and it doesn't mean that everyone on the spectrum will have a close relative with either schizophrenia or bipolar - also doesn't make anyone this applies to's diagnosis any less valid.

Yes my aunty on one side and another aunty most probably, although undiagnosed, on the other side.

Well, my father has been diagnosed with "schizofrenic traits" as an adult, but he's obviously not severely schizofrenic. Also, one of my mother's aunts had schizofrenia, too.

A friend of my mother has a schizophrenic son and an autistic daughter.

However, I suspect that there is much mutual misdiagnoses between ASD and schizophrenia spectrum (many symptoms are almost identical, after all).

My Mother has acute schizophrenia,
Her father had AS

My Father has AS
his uncle has Acute Schizophrenia
his 4 brothers have AS

My Brother and sister have AS
My Son and Daughter have AS

see a pattern emerging...
They studied my family in regards to this and I was told it could be caused by opportunistic virus or emotional trauma during pregnancy or both.
My Mothers Mother had both!

They told the neuro scientist that was researching this to just find 100 more cases and they might listen to him 1000 more and they will take him seriously. DSM? what does it really stand for?

Jesus. l wonder how much research is being done between the link now.

l've talked about it here a lot. My dad is paranoid schiz, a few other family members on that side are too.

l see similarities between the two disorders...l've read that AS is most closely linked with PS.

Myself, l'm sometimes similar to my dad in too many ways :/ but fortunately not schizophrenic and most likely NT. Aside from the ''magical'' thinking criteria included in some schzophrenic spectrum disorders l could probably fit that label if l REALLY spilled my guts to a psych but have never wanted the label lol.
