I've met my fair share of jerks who didn't even bother to try and understand. BUT I believe that this is unrelated to them being 'NT', it's related to them being a**holes.

This was more along the lines of what I was trying to say. There are nice NTs, there are a-hole NTs, and the ones in between. There is such a range present that it's hard to make generalizations against this huge group of people who vary so widely in opinions.

Watch me make generalisations - it can be done :)

it's called black and white thinking - perhaps you need to go back to Asperger school to learn it

I've yet to meet one who didn't think they were essentially superior to me, no matter how subtle they were about it.

If I meet a person who treats me as an equal, I know by default I'm in the presence of neuro-diversity

what sucks is that because of my Asperger's, I usually say things that I don't realize will make me seem creepy or etc. what also sucks is that if a friend or acquaintance that's a girl doesn't want to talk to me or if I'm talking to her at the level that we're not even at yet (I don't know that we're not at that level), instead of her telling me to "back off" or "we're not at that level yet", she'll just go behind my back and tell other people to tell me off or to tell me that I'm creeping her out, and then I end up feeling not welcomed in group settings where I might know her from.

I don't give a damn what people think about me anymore and I mean that.

Wow, you mean that people who act differently are treated differently?

I'm fairly certain this is true to a certain degree even though they won't admit it.

I would like to hear other's opinions on this belief.

I don't think so, no.

The first thing to remember I think, is that most people don't know what Aspergers is. When I've said that word to some they have said "What?" And they thought I said two words, with the first one a bad word for the human backside. Some have vaguely heard of autism but their only reference for that is usually "Rainman."

Most of them would use a word like "deviant" for some type of sexual deviant, and even that is probably too fancy a word for most people to use. I know they would not associate that type of a personality with autism. (Which, again, is the closest reference they have to Aspergers at all.)

As for the people on the spectrum they know without knowing they know them...They likely think they are shy. They might use the word "backward" or "awkward." But deviant? No.

NB: I realize you mean social deviant in the strictest sense, i.e. different from the norm. But the wording would be too strong for most to think or use, so, still no.
