"You must have cheated!"
My 9th grade art teacher had a very hard time believing I could draw (not trace) an almost perfect copy of a picture I was looking at upside-down. It was an assignment the whole class had to do. He asked me "You drew this upside down?" and then stared at me intensely for a very long time before accepting my drawing.
My elementary school teachers didn't believe I could read upside-down or write with both hands. Some of them insisted I was right-handed, and all of them told me off.
None of my math teachers believed I could get the right answers by doing math in my head instead of by writing it all out on paper like I was supposed to. I got a lot of zeroes because I couldn't do math by writing it out and it's presumed that you cheated if you can't show your work.
People add things to the atypical things they see to make a story out of it in their mind so that it makes more sense to them -- the atypical becomes typical, even if only in their imagination.

Love transcends all.
"You must've cheated!"
Beat someone at their favorite game on the first try ...
"You must've cheated!"
Ace an exam that most other scored a "C" on ...
"You must've cheated!"
Bring flowers to your girlfriend just because you love her ...
"You must've cheated!"
Go geocashing with new "friends" that also like to geocache, solve the riddle, get the new GPS-coordinates and go straight into the new direction while your friend are still entering the coordinates into their smartphones to get the direction they must go.
Never meet them again.
Thanks for all the replies. It definitely wasn't just me then. I really like comic book art (whether I read it or not) and that Is what I had been striving for. I am not really into drawing anime, either. But cartoon and comic book art fascinates me.
My hand is hurt right now so it takes me a while to get something done. Been working on a pic for two days right now (I really don't give up easy!).
The encounter freaked me out a bit, but you guys have really helped me and all tips are ALWAYS welcome I enjoy constructive criticism.
The person seemed angry to me, but hey I am not the best judge of emotional feedback from others, The person left, tho and I am now unsure!

I get this reaction sometimes, OP but it's usually because I have some kind of hyper-beginner luck or something. My first attempt at most things seem to be very lucky followed by serious regression for a little while and then bam, I'm suddenly fantastic again. I'd never played a CoD game before hanging out with a few friends who were fanatics...I shocked them in the first match with some crazy kills, then proceeded to be terrible for a few hours before, finally, beginning to win most future matches. They were flabbergasted that I could learn the 'craft' so quickly because they'd spent hours playing it online. If only being social and successful was so easy, right? Interestingly, with guitar and music, I'm completely the opposite. I'm slow to learn things and very frustrated at first, but so obsessive that I eventually surpass whoever tried to teach it to me.

I am just glad I got some sort of talent (albeit one that will probably still leave me making no money i am aware how much artists starve to death and my other talent is singing) because mathematics is not one of them (algebra in specific. I can deal with numbers and associations all the time, but FORMULAS?? forget it!).

Same. I always thought showing the work was a waste of time.
