Pressure for grandchildren

There's been a rather drastic change in my situation. No more pressure for grandkids from my mom because she's going to have one! Mrs. BubbaHoTep is pregnant! We just found out this morning.

Tonight I saw a documentary about competitive parents - parents being competitive with each other based on their children's achievements and talents.

Although the programme was about children, not about adult children, I can see how this competitiveness and oneupmanship is a reason for exerting pressure on one's offspring to have grandchildren.
