I have tinnitus and the snow thing. If I'm tired I get hyper-acute hearing, which I hate. I'm just thinking, the 5 senses aren't much fun for me at all. I want an Off Switch for everything.

Tinnitus is horrible. I want to cure it. Maybe i should start a "cure tinnitus now" organization although I won't push for prenatal screening.

luckily i can only hear it if i have ear plugs in.

I will go for a cure tinnitus thing as long as it doesn't "cure" my strangeness. I've always had tinnitus and it bugs the crap out of me.

I have only a little snow. It's like a clump in one eye. I developed that later and went to my Opthamologist because it took me quite awhile to learn to ignore it instead of focusing on it.

Very common side effect of anti-inflamatories. Not saying it isn't an aspie thing but I am NT and had it when I used naproxin for a bad back. Look at any meds you are taking even some herbs can have side effects.

I did recently read that it could be a symptom of my Effexor....but I have been on that for 5 years and only noticed this recently...perhaps both age, loud noise abuse, meds and paying to much attention to sounds when trying to sleep(which is the only time it really bothers me).

I've got both tinnitus and visual snow, as well as a few other visual disturbances. The tinnitus has been life-long, but the snow only for the past few years.

If anyone out there finds the cure for tinnitus I'll sign up in a heart-beat.

Visual snow? Do some people see this all the time then? I only see visual snow at night in a dark room - but everyone sees it then don't they? Or do they?

Tinnitus I've had for many years. I've also got a floater in my left eye which I've had as long as I remember. I do have vision problems of a nebulous nature and have the screen text set larger than most people but don't see any snow as such during daylight though images sometimes seem a little "noisy / cloudy" - like looking through a very faint fog passing in front of my eyes.

I've had something that I think is a bit more than visual snow for as long as I can remember. This isn't just like TV snow.... whenever I have my eyes closed or I'm in the dark, I see on the blackness, a pool filled with all sorts of different shapes and patterns. It doesn't look like TV snow, it looks more like if you were to cross a microscope slide filled with river water and combine that with all the neon lights from Las Vegas.

They almost look like living shapes, in all sorts of different neon colors. Sometimes I'll see a group of shapes that "swim" towards me in a wave pattern like a school of fish. They'll then swim past and out of my field of vision. Sometimes I see a mutlicolored globe that kind of looks like the AT&T logo. It will start to spin, go faster and faster, and then eventually spin so fast that it disappears into a big blot and disperses.

Yeah, this is some weird stuff that I see, and I swear if I concentrate, I can CONTROL what these lights do to a certain degree. I've seen them all my life, but I don't notice them unless it's very dark or I have my eyes closed, then it's like BAM! Light show!

Yes, I relate to that. no idea who, what, where or why.

What I do know is that I get this 'visual snow' thing. I also get other visual affect that is like splotches - I have discovered this is 'opthalmic migraine'. It's like the precursor to a migraine, but doesn't necessarily result in a headache. I think it's stressor related.
For example, flourescent lights drive me mental (as in, will result in meltdown if not I'm not careful). I've had it in classrooms too, when anxious.

I don't think I've had Visual Snow, but I do have "Floaters" which are both interesting and distracting at the same time.

Yah. I can see why people call it visual snow, but your description better matches it for me.

I've recently started to liken it with fire, because it often seems like blank surfaces of one colour (light or dark) are 'burning' with a haze of pink/orange/green noise.

I always thought visual snow was just something that everyone got. That's really odd to know that it isn't. And there do seem to be a hell of a lot of Aspie people with it.

My Dad has Tinnitus, but he always attributed it to music concerts, which I'm inclined to agree with in his case. He is a huge music collector/fan/expert, and has been to a lot in his lifespan.

I don't have classic tinnitus, which I define as damage to your inner ear that produces constant ringing.

I do get a faint whine, more noticeable when it's quiet, but I have had it go away completely and other times it's very bothersome. Never stopped to wonder why it happens or why it varies.

As far as visual snow...never noticed anything that bad. I know if I get up too fast my vision will do this whole black and white speckle thing, but I always considered that to be caused by a radical drop in blood pressure in my head.

I got tinnitus in my left ear (I think it is only my left) from a loud unexpected bang when I was young.

I don't know if I have what I could descibe as visual snow as much as I would call it a visual disturbance! Every now and then, usually in the cornes of my eyes, so mostly in my peripheral vision, in dark rooms, I will see bright ticks of a color, like a blinking light in the dark, but just once. Usually red or green, and varying size or shape.

I always try to find the source, as if there will be a random light there, that magically got placed where one wasn't before!

Isn't Visual Snow a fairly normal thing that everyone gets?

I have visual snow. Except snow doesn't quite describe it.

It's more like a uniform wall of neon dots all over my vision. It seems to exist about 6in in front of my eyes, and the dots seem to be constantly flickering in and out of existence.

I have had it continuously since I was an infant. I don't mind it at all.

Can you see the person(s) you are talking to? Or the street you're trying to cross?
