I can sleep... as long as it is the EXACT temperature with the EXACT amount of noise and the EXACT amount of light and I'm in the EXACT position with the EXACT pillow and my sheets in the EXACT position required for me to sleep.

This. Exactly this. Right now I'm adjusting to a different mattress, and it's really impacting my ability to get a good night's sleep.

And then there are the nights when I just can't turn my brain "off," and lie awake for hours thinking.

I also like sleeping under lots of heavy blankets--I have a hard time falling asleep without the weight. It's a little problematic in the summer as you might imagine; I should probably try a weighted blanket.

I have to move my legs, too. I could never figure out why until I learned about AS, but I figured it was some sort of self-soothing mechanism. Sometimes I'll lie on my side and rock my entire body, or nod my head from side to side on my pillow.

I always wake up between 3 & 4 and think/read until 7 or 8 or so. Take a 1 to 2 hour nap around 6 and hit the sheets around 10:30/11:00. Can only fall asleep on my left side because of habitually using Rowasa enemas to control my ulcerative colitis (in remission now :D ).
