Hypocrisy and Generalizing

I like to use "pot" as an example of how society is. Despite the fact none of the claims can be backed up, its illegal. This is a personal "rights" issue and I'm MORE a libertarian then a pot user

Ok sure. I'm a Conservative so I wouldn't know. Even though I don't keep up with politics that much.

*shrug* I view "generlization" as an evolved human reaction for survival.

Its not a very effective form of arguing and I will say I'm nothing special as I've generalized before, however, when called on it, I will specifically say what I TRUELY mean, for clarification. I can take generalizing so much until it is used to describe myself. Since I do my best to not be a hypocrite, what *I* don't like I will assume OTHERS do not like so I will do my best to refrain from it.

If people like being generalized, I can do just that, as well. I just dont want to hear a bunch of whining from people when someone has generalized their aspie traits.

Generalizing is just a force of human nature. Some people do it more than others. People who do it too little usually get involved with the wrong people, get maimed, or die... People who do it too much end up being tormented by their own paranoia.

If you're against this aspect of normal human nature so much, I want to see you go give a Nazi a hug. ...Or maybe since generalizing is bad, I should go to Compton and say "HEY" to one of the local gangsters, because pfff they don't all want to shoot me!

We all generalize to a point. It's a part of life, so it's best to get used to it.

My problem with generalizing is that it's a result of humananites needs to be able to have a label for everybody and as soon as someone comes along who is a little bit different and doesn't fit into a "label" that they're aware of, they start throwing generalizations up at them in an attempt to figure them out rather than just asking the person.

It happens to me alot, people notice i'm different but (as they've never heard of AS) they start to assume it's a result of something else and they throw basically every single generilization they can think of in my direction. None of it sticks as time goes on but it's certainly annoying being constantly misrepresented simply because people can't accept the fact that I'm not like 99% of the rest of the population. Eg. For a while people thought i was gay because i didn't date alot of ladies growing up. Eventually they've come to realise it was simply because I have high standards and was lacking confidence in high school. It happens alot really, people seem to assume the worst simply because i'm not 100% like them, i tell them i'm honorable (and outside of one incident with a mates GF i've always been so) but sometimes it seems like other people will feel better about themselves if i'm not. /shrug
