The title sucks. A number of posts refers to ADHD which is not a disease but rather a disorder, as is Autism. The title leads one to believe that it is easy to fool professionals and recieve help when one doesn't need it.

Back to where this thread went -> There is someone's perception, then there are those who try to shape others perception, and then there is reality. Look at the literature, although there are cases of false positives for ADHD, in reality adhd is an under-diagnosed condition.

I'm also not used to communicating major ideas by anecdotal reference. If I am going to make a point about public issues, you can bet that I can back it up with solid web based citations. Anecdotal stories are chatty and interesting and have their place on a messageboard....but when posters only use anedotal references, they are inadvertently shaping opinion. Personal stories should only be used to illustrate well grounded information.

Finally, how would any one person know how easily it is to obtain a perscription across all 52 states of the USA?

I could swear that the last time I was in school there was only 50 states....I feel really old

50 OFFICIAL states! Some WANT there to be 52! BTW there are also like 17+ official possessions, etc... So they might want like 68 states!(One state certain people want is washington DC which is currently a district encompassing 3 states)

After everybody is diagnosed with a disease, there won't be any disease card to play. :?

Get real folks.

As one who takes Adderall for a very real condition I can tell you that it wasn't easy getting a diagnosis nor was it easy getting a prescription. The insinuation in this thread smells.

Whether it was hard you to get a diagnosis and prescription or not is frankly irrelevant. Many physicians and psychiatrists are more than willing to prescribe ADHD medications after relatively brief sessions. I've heard about people getting after complaining about problems concentrating and studying.

You have "heard" things...and that is supposed to be relevant and objective? Part of the reason we tell stories about our good and bad experiences is to "entertain" the listener. We want them to be impressed by some facet of the information that we share with them. This of course leads to bias. 2nd hand and even 1st hand experiences are subjective and have bias. Give me any recent study on this topic to support your contention. That would be some evidence that we could sink our teeth into.
