It really doesn't bother me or effect me in any way. So, no.
I used to really think there was something weird about shameless, self-promotion (like when someone is just unbearably narcissistic), some people really are annoying about it. Alex doesn't fit that criteria, in my opinion.
It's his creation, and I think he's entitled to it.
I can imagine it sucks for you, though, since you're tired of it.

Well thank you! That's not usually the response that I inspire and I'm very glad that I did.

Well, it doesn't bother me much, but it'd be nice to promote something new. Just to keep things up-to-date, ya know?

At least he's showing definite progress in updating the forum software, which some of us have been wanting for a few years now. :lmao:

It is getting better. Now you just got 1 pic instead of the 3 you used to get sometimes. But a vote without a vote?

The site is apparently set up to show the most recent articles on the homepage. I imagine Alex hasn't had much time for writing recently.

It's a pretty interesting video.

The advertisements are relevant to Autism and Asperger's (you know... the people using this site... yeah...), so it's not like there's no purpose to them and they're all about Alex. When you run a website you can advertise whatever you'd like and update whenever you'd like, too.

I wish that he'd change that ad for no other reason than it's starting to get on my tweaky little titties.

And that bit where it says: "He even discusses how he used TV to figure out social rules" (or words to that effect). Gets on my box because I think that's what most of us probably did (unless there's anyone here who was brought up before TV was invented).

No, I don't think he's too self-promoting, I would never have known about a lot of stuff if he weren't involved in it, he's doing great and helping us out with this site. The only pic I hated was the one with the woman making that pointing gesture, and only that because the gesture gave me a physical reaction.

Besides, it's not like skipping a page will kill you or cause the site to crash or whatever.

Now YouTube, that is DEFINITELY complain-worthy when it comes to promotion and ads.

I don't mind the self-promotion. It's relatively mild and non-invasive, and it is his site that he maintains.

Compare that to the alternative: There could be ads unrelated to asperger/autism content such as Sports Cars, Movie Intros, Home Products, commercialized stuff that pops out and plays loud buzzing sounds and jingles unexpectedly that you have to close, minimize, or shut off the volume.

What would you choose?

My immediate response to that question was anger. I had often felt like people were not happy with me unless I was pretending to be a big nothing or actually failing at something. (Now I know it's because THEY were feeling inadequate)
Why can't people just be happy for someone else these days?

Years ago, I bought a book called 'HowTo Grow Rich", by Donald Trump. I was extremely curious what it would say. I knew it wouldn't be what I would have liked to see : "get fifty bucks, go to this address, ask for Murray, tell him The Don sent you"
I was not really surprised it was just a bunch of hot air about vague approached to business, peppered with anecdotes about his life, but my curiosity was appeased. (and he certainly grew a bit richer in return!!)
Oddly, the only thing I remember from that book was the message about self promotion. He said 'Don't be afraid to toot your own horn". This is why he puts his name on everything. I know in business, he is right. It's a fiercely competitive world, and having that kind of confidence is an incredible edge.
Of course, most of us don't have names whose meanings don't already imply 'winner'. Lucky Don.

I think Alex is not in it for the money, although I hope he does well with that too. I understand what it's like to wish you had something someone else has, and that's OK, as long as you don't begrudge them their success.

i fine people with more severe autism that has overcame it have more of a right to gloat about than someone with aspergers that had it pretty easy, but whatever, i dont focus on other people too much
