I think that the test could be improved by adding a text box at the end of each line, so that people could elaborate on why they answered the way they did. This would allow you to see which questions people were having trouble answering.

I once had a comment field (maybe should add this again to the experimental version?). However, to have one comment field per line would make it impossible to track. I cannot go through 1,000s of answers possibly with some comments for different items. It has to be done with a general comment field in order to be practical. Possibly I could make a concatenation of question # with comment and then save it as a single formatted comment. That might be possible.

Besides, number of "?" is a good indication of the quality of a question. If it attracts many "?" answers it's typically bad in some way. Some questions do this even if they are not bad (like sex or relationship questions when the test-taker is too young or have no experience), but I typically allow higher percentage of "?" answers for such questions.

Also, certain questions are asked as if the only responses are binary, like "Do you prefer to have friends of the opposite gender?" If the answer is yes, then someone would know that they answer yes, but how would a person answer if they preferred not to have friends at all? How would they answer if they preferred to have friends of their same gender? Or they could have interpreted the question as "Do you prefer to have [any] friends of the opposite gender?"

If you have no friends, you should use "?". If you never had a relationship, you should also use "?" on all the relationship related questions.

Hmm...I answered completely honestly and got this:

"You have answered inconsistently on too many control-questions"

How can I get a score on the test? Am I excluded due to my odd answers?

I didn't expect that you would go through thousands of answers.

I expected that if any questions were problematic, you would read through some of the answers per question and see similar problems described.

I also realized that a person who could not figure out how to answer appropriately would choose "?". The quantity of "?" responses you receive for a question may be indicative of a problem, but sometimes a question may have a valid basis but still be confusing.

It is a mistake to believe that understanding that there is a problem necessarily implies understanding either what the problem is or the extent of the problem.

You should be careful about how you answer the 5 similar questions that have both a neurotypical and Aspie version of the same question. Either use the "?" answer, or the middle alternative for those if you cannot answer them consistently. If you cannot figure out which these are, send me a PM and I'll give you a list of them. I don't want to post them publicly so people can easily manipulate their answers.

It could be real tricky to sort these things out. Sometimes a good approach is to see the relation between questions. These relations typically tells a lot about how a question is interpreted. It's harder when they have multiple relations, like some of the relationship questions have. These are then interpreted in fundamentally different ways by NTs and Aspies, possible generating no relevance at all for being Aspie, and then being discarded as not relevant. Some of these are relevant, but then need to be changed so one of these interpretations are no longer made. I think it is pretty hard to figure this out be people's comments, as people might not be aware of that they interpret something very differently than others do. You need to know the background yourself in order to figure this out. Which is why neurodiversity research should be done by Aspies, not NTs. :-)

My NT step dad does this so I'm not sure if it's a good question to detect Asperger's. Also, I remember in the younger years that the kids at my school picked at their scabs, it grossed me out SO much. So I've seen more NT people doing that. But maybe the question is geared at NT's and not aspies?

P.s. rdos, I took the test and liked the majority of the questions. There were a few typos here and there but that's just minor. I scored roughly the same as the old quiz. The old quiz I was 167/200 and this time I was 160/200. Good job at putting it together.

I got a score and graph very close to what I got multiple times on the old quiz.

Your Aspie score: 164 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 54 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

What is neurodiversity?

Your Aspie score: 128 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 56 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

There were a number of questions that I found confusing. Below are some examples:

It asked, “Do you find it difficult to take messages on the telephone and pass them on correctly?”. Well, I learned a long time ago that if I didn’t write down the message verbatim, I would forget it. As a result, I don’t find it difficult to take a message and pass it on (when I write it down). I suppose if the message is simple (e.g. “Call Mom”), I can relay that without writing it down. It really depends. I ended up answering, “?”.

It asked, “Do you prefer the company of those of the same age as yourself?” Well, if I had the choice (i.e. preference), I would prefer being alone. Though, if that is not an option (and I had to choose between younger, older or same age), I would probably choose same age. I ended up answering, “?”.

I ended up answering “?” to 32 questions, as I found them ambiguous.

I also answered entirely truthfully and answered inconsitently on too many control questions...

I think you have something wrong with your control questions if you keep catching us like this.

This test has some weird questions about stuff that is not related to AS at all.

Both my Aspie and NT scores are slightly lower than I got on the old quiz (143/72).

Many of the questions had two clauses that were yes for one clause and no for the other clause, which added up to no.
