I don't like or trust electric blankets if I go to a motel room I pull the plug out from the wall so I would feel safer.
I don't use a hairdryer as I had a really good one but it blew up and when I bought a new one I noticed it was glowing red then when I had that replaced it too was glowing red so I never used one again.

Essentially zero chance.

No, considering the odds won't help me with the fire thing. :) The fire is still what it is and it makes no difference how many people use it safely, It's still too hot and can burn you. Too traumatic for me to deal with.

Hmmm...

Maybe the same with you and machines? Goes beyond logic?

I was going to say the same thing. There was a scene in The Sopranos where a woman was cooking over a gas stove - her kimono sleeve caught on fire and she ended up burned pretty badly. I was thinking, Oh that is so stupid, that never happens! I have never one time heard if it happening. Besides which, if it was prone to happening, wouldn't it be one of those things that happens all the time? Because don't a lot of people cook in robes?

Anyway, I'm just trying to give you guys a little comfort.

I don't really mind using them. Takes a little skill and learning, is all. :)

I hate fire and so will have nothing to do with gas stoves and ovens that don't self-light. (Not too crazy about the self-lighting ones, either.)

I also like clean clothes so washers and dryers...you gotta have them. (I'm not made of money, so no sending stuff out to be laundered.)

I won't light a gas stove if it doesn't light by itself. I have a lot of trouble lighting matches too.

I have a dryer in my house but the washer doesn't work so I have to do all my laundry by hand. I have to do some soon because I'm running out of clean clothes. All my robes are dirty and I have a lot of dirty sheets piled up too but I can't wash those by hand so they'll just have to stay dirty. I used to have a laundromat really close to my house but they closed.

I'm the opposite, a past special interest was appliances, mostly washers. I even collect vintage small appliances.

Between the ages of about five and ten I was too afraid to flush the toilet because I didn't want it to overflow... finally my grandpa yelled at me for it once and it scared me enough to make me start flushing the toilet.

I'm also afraid of vacuums. The sound really bothers me, especially if it's in a particularly confined area.

Sadly, they're supposed to glow red. That's the heating element that provides the temp increase for the air being blown thru the dryer.

My fire thing sometimes extends to heating elements too, but not as much.

You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

What would these results mean? Been told here I must be a "half pint".

I've never used an electric blanket or had one in the house. My grandmother didn't like them and I think she was worried that it would start a fire.

I don't use or own a hair dryer. I let my hair dry naturally and think that is better for my hair. I never use heat on my hair.
