I hate new shoes!

My mom just got me a bunch of new shoes last month. Now I've had my old tennies for years and I really liked wearing them, and I didn't want to stop wearing them. There was basically one or two pairs of shoes I liked out of like 5 or so that my mom got. I picked out one pair to wear, and it's all I've been wearing since. I haven't put on any of the other pairs and probably won't. My mom tells me "now you should wear a different pair of shoes each day" Um...no. I think my mom wasted her money.

I like my old pair, thanks. Nothing like em. I'll never understand the female obsession for shoes.

I'm pretty sure it is normal to be in pain and discomfort from new shoes, for several days or weeks even.

I like new shoes if I can find comfortable ones, I prefer Goretex-lined walking shoes with a decent, non-slip sole and tend to buy the same ones again when the old ones are wearing out. Since I have broad feet and loose ankles I can't wear anything "uncomfortable" or fashionable anyway

I got a pair of Brasher walking boots* and a pair of trainers (both half price) last weekend and a pair of Goretex half-shoe things in December, so that's my quota sorted for the next 1-2 years, thankfully. I needed to get new walking boots because I had some really comfy ones but they have rubber soles and at work I keep getting severely "zapped" every time I go in the kitchen.

I'm happy with my purchases, although I invariably end up bleeding heavily into them for a while, since I don't tend to notice blisters until they're more or less red raw. I tend to notice a sort of general pain and discomfort to the point of fidgeting constantly, but am not aware that I'm actually bleeding etc.

I put on my trainers for 10 minutes last Saturday to pop to the shops and when I got back they each had a thick red stripe going down the back (inside). I didn't even realise it was blood until the cats started trying to lick the shoes :80:

I would say that being made to feel very uncomfortable by new shoes or illfitting shoes is much more likely to be a side effect of being an NT than autistic or other person with Sensory Integration Disorder. Why? Because once we have the opportunity to pick our own shoes, we pick "Sensible" shoes. I have been wearing comfortable shoes since I was about 14 and haven't looked back. When I do wear a slight heel, I get a half size bigger so my foot isn't smashed. No pointy toes! I get cheap shoes that break in fast and are replaceable.
My husband does the same but with expensive shoes that last longer and give more support. He's flat-footed and weighs a lot more so he needs reinforced soles and toes.

A lot of NTs will cram their foot into anything to "look fabulous" and they whine about it endlessly. And what's up with getting crappy shoes for special events? Your only memory of it will be the lingering blisters you got!

I find it very difficult to find shoes I like. I have been wearing the same pair of trainers for 6 years. In the summer I wear a pair of flip flops (without the between-the-toe bit!) that I've had for 7 years.

New shoes are all stiff and uncomfortable, and too clean looking. When I get a pair, I wear them for the rest of the day and bend them a bit to try to get them more confortable. Not with flats though, I think that would be a bad idea.

I love shoes. It's my biggest concession to girliness.



I don't actually *wear* super girly shoes very often, but I do love to have them.

I don't mind new shoes at all! However, I can't stand old shoes. If there's a single defect in them, it's all I'll think about.

I got another pair of crocs today at the thrifty store!
I don't like spending lots of money on shoes. Right now I am obsessed with crocs...but both pairs I own now were not new when I bought them.

I don't hate it, but sometimes I have worn a pair of shoes for long time, and I don't want to change it for others when they get old because I love them.

Hey, were all typical aspies, and most of us hate change.

I know i do, i hate wearing new shoes because it takes time for them to take the shape of my feet, and they feel really uncomfrotable.
