Who else cuts their own hair?

yes up until adult hood it had just grown down past arse because had never been able to go to the environment of a hair dressers and woud struggle and hit out if anyone got close enough to cut hair.
but since mid twenties,and after a chat with an old member here; danielismyname had realised the benefits of a razor; using it to shave hair off, unfortunately because am completely unable to feel pain was taking the scalp off every time and left pouring with blood so ended up looking into other alternatives.

had then bought a pair of manual hair clippers, these were what people used in the olden days before electricity; theyre very good for people with sound sensitivity and had found them for sale in a favourite equestrian store of mine;derby house-theyre marketed by the same company for horses with sound sensitivity but theyre exactly the same product that they originaly made for humans;with the same blades.

next a support staff of mine who was also a profesional hair dresser offered to start bringing in her profesional electric clippers so coud get used to the noise and have a better cut,for a number of years woud put ear plugs in plus wear ear defenders and end up in a unwakeable coma from the noise.
as time went on,the coma became less,and the ear defenders werent needed,
then last year finaly was able to sit through a clipping without collapsing into a coma,was then able to start doing own hair with it and am always doing a 'number nought' because am a padded helmet wearer and the head will have a horrible itch if the hair isnt kept as short as possible.

clip the hair once a week,love the vibration on skull from the metal plate of the clippers.

your right about the ego stroke , gyms and gwad forbid "personal trainers" heres an idea instead of drving your suv to your vanity session try walking to work or ride a bike to the shops you can by a trolly to attach to your bicycle great way to lose weight and weighten your wallet , not the other way around

It must be a anglo saxon thing I saw very few gyms in western Europe

I have been cutting my own hair all my adult life.

I have been cutting my own hair for about 25 years now and obviously make such a good job that my Dad has his done my me too.
I don't chat and I am sense aware when it comes to little hair irritation and bright lights.

I sometimes cut my bangs myself (with mixed results) when the sensation of them hanging just above my eyes gets to be more than I can stand.

I had undersealed my car the day before I was due to return to work and was alarmed to discover, the underseal would not wash out of my hair.
I consequently had to cut my hair as close to the scalp as possible, with a pair of scissors, you can imagine what I looked like.

So I invested in a Wahl, that was around 1997 and I still use it, am so good with it now that nobody can tell I cut it myself.

I've been cutting my own hair for three years now. I don't have to fork over $30 a month to the hairdresser's or the barber every month.

wahl is a good brand mine is made in the usa , hope they don't make them in china now

I've been chopping off my hair when my mother wasn't looking since the earliest point that I could intelligently use scissors. I hate anything touching my ears, it drives me to my limits of patience. I recently got my hair chopped professionally after I did a particularly terrible job, like beyond using a bowl bad with crooked lines. But unless I really really botch it to hell, I won't even let people touch my hair let alone chop it. It's my hair, its a piece of me! I'm not going to let some chump I barely know do weird things to it for my money. It's like pissing in my neighbor's cereal and they pay me to do it.

I do, but not because I can't stand hair cuts. I like my scalp being massaged.

It's an issue of cost.

I've thought about it and saw directions online about how to do it but I haven't because I'm worried I won't get it even.

I go once a year at most and it only costs $15 and takes a few minutes so it's no big deal. Normally I'd be worried that they would cut off too much but I found someone that knows that I want as little as possible cut off just to even it out a little and get rid of split ends.

I've been doing it myself since I was 20, in 1990.

We bought some dog clippers for our Standard Poodle and he wouldn't let us go anywhere near him with them ( clever dog ) so I used them on me.

I have done so ever since.

Since my hair is growing out [very oddly] from chemo, I am at the 'I will never cut a hair on my head" phase. I understand this is normal and temporary. In the past, my husband cut my hair, but every two or 3 years I get it done professionally and am always asked "who cut your hair last time?" I tell them and they say "ah that explains it."

I don't get hair cuts.

My dad has cut his own hair since he was 12. Even on special occasions he would have the same medium length messy self cut. It was one of the many things that made me angry with him. He did things his way and wouldn't listen. That was until I combined his traits and read about Asperger's. Wish he would be honest about why he does things his way though. Cutting his own hair, making the same meal whenever we have a visitor, massively obsessed with the environment to the point of losing his families money on poor environmental investments blah blah blah.
