am not sure about applying the word wonderful to humans as its like gloryfying them without recognising all humans are capable of bad or good.but who says people on the spectrum cant be genuinely profoundly nice and caring, and without any interest in gaining something out of it?
am one of them-its why am driven to be an ID and autism activist, and can think of a number of a lot of other autistic people online and off line who meet that criteria.
but we all have the potential to think or do bad,its part of being human-our personalities arent locked to being one way or the other, but our life experiences flavour how we treat others.

That is great :) I do think we can be nice and kind but I think we cannot be as gracious due to social deficits.

Hyena.
You have labelled your ideal "wonderful" and decided, that you´ll never reach that quality because, you´re "on the spectrum".
Hmmmm. Spectrum has nothing to do with it.
In your dream, you knew, that you do have the potential, - and you were aware, that it takes guidance and development.
Everything, you dream, is an aspect of yourself, so who do you think guided you???
You have decided, what "wonderful" people do, - well, start practising, a little bit at a time - and don´t think, that "wonderful" people never get pissed!
They just wish well for others. You´ve got it in you.

Thank you, that is very nice of you :)
I am not sure I have isolated exactly what I want to say in my mind. When/if I do I will get back to you guys :)

OP, I think that sometimes too. Some of my favourite fictional characters and people in real life have a lot of social grace and can understand and pick up on something being the matter with me (or someone else) right away. They will swoop in and come to the rescue in an appropriate way and do so without awkwardness or hesitation (with elegance and grace). Since I suck at reading non-verbal cues and am usually not paying attention to the needs and feelings of people around me to begin with I stand little chance of being able to pick up the need for help in the first place and definitely lack the social grace necessary for part two even if I do pick up on what's happening. I guess we can just work on being as good as we can be and perhaps we can be wonderful in other ways and just better than we are now in this way. I know one aspie girl who is wonderful in a lot of ways even if she is not very expressive emotionally or socially graceful. I wish I were more like her.

You have expressed what I was thinking very clearly, thank you :) I meant that exactly! Even when I do help others it is not done as gracefully/enthusiastically as wonderful people do it. Don't you just love how I keep referring to them as "wonderful people"? haha

Any person, and that includes Aspies and Autistics, can be wonderful, because we are all children of God called to holiness. There is no reason whatsoever why someone on the autism spectrum cannot be a source of love and life to others. I for one try (and fail) every day to help people get closer to God. I have faith in everyone on WP that they can do the same -- that is, if they choose. And since it is better to be good than bad, why not become as good as possible? I have faith in all of you.

Respectfully, I don't think religion is the source of goodness. I agree about love but not the getting closer to god stuff. Nothing personal.
Cheers

Sure, it's nothing personal. But either goodness comes from a transcendent Being, or it comes from the primordial survival-of-the-fittest bacterial soup. Take your pick!

For me goodness comes from within. It is a matter of how I feel.

Do think if this being did not exist there would be no good or bad? Suppose instead that this being was different than it is and had a completely different concept of good than this one does. Which one is correct the first version of good or the second? What I am trying to say is: is this being good by the simple virtue that she is transcendental or is she good for some other reason? How do you know this being is good?

She is good because She IS, and she decided to share her existence with us by creating us.

That does not imply she is good. At some point scientists might be able to create a new form of sentient life in a lab. That does not make them good. Creating someone does not make one good.
If you are allowed to say she is good because she is, I can just as easily say Satan is good because she is. What is the difference?
:)
