also one last thing and then i'll shutup about this. the reason people say, "get off you're ass and get a job" is because there's this unwritten rule in america that if "you dont work hard" your a loser. part of the problem can be blamed on corporations and the "i gotta be like the joneses" syndrome. thats why we have a 40 hour work week. NOBODY in the world works as long, takes less vacations than americans do. Europeans work a fraction of what we work over here and they seem to have pretty good lives. so there

My monthly cheque is a Godsend. I'm a little more affected than most of the people here. I can't handle a job with out experiencing burnout and depression. I also have another medical issue that renders me unemployable. I still have enough money to indulge in my hobbies. I'm a winner in my own right. I don't need a 30K job to tell me that. I did work in the past, and it didn't work out for me.

this is work. it isnt a job. i'm sure cavemen enjoyed hunting, and didnt view this as a chore. this is evident by cave paintings about hunting.

First of all miss, i dont like video games. i'm not a kid and i'm 26. ive worked on an off since ive been 18 and have paid my fair share of taxes. i just dont believe working a 40 hour work week like the rest of these mindless zombies in america. and can have some compassion for others who are disabled, and btw i do currenty have a job. only 15 hours a week though. 0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o.

Disabled or excuse? I'm all for people who are disabled, but I dont like hearing that "I've given up, life sucks, welfare" because that means everyone else just automatically picks your ass up. God bless socialism but I have my own problems, my family has problems, and my friends have problems. WE ALL have problems and no one's s**t stinks prettier then the next.

You don't believe in working a 40 hour week? Then get out of this society because I dont agree to paying your ass for not believing he/she should work. You are paid for your effort and your talents. Whining and complaining is not a talent.

I will not consider depression to be a reason not to work. I know someone who argues exactly what everyone is saying:
- He is depressed
- He thinks working is pointless if you don't enjoy it

Coincidentally he is living in his parents basement, they pay is bloody life, and guess what? There are no signs of changing. Can't wait until his ass is in line picking up a pay check.

Depression is not an excuse. I've been depressed before. Hell, before christmas, I came home everynight completely shattered, falling to my knees. Meditations consisted of a lot of crying over my problems but I still went to work, I still did my job because I still have bills to pay and a life to live because I NEED to. No one is exempt from working and if this WERE during caveman times, lazy people who make excuses would be outcasted to where they can live their own life the way they want to, though, they are going to find that they need to work to live.

I dont think Ticker is in the wrong. I think too many people are just looking for excuses. Some of us are higher on the spectrum and thats fine but I know "mentally handicapped" people who have jobs. Is it glamourous? No, but what, in your RIGHT mind, makes you think that, because the jobs available for you suck, means that you can just grab a paycheck from the government? What if we all thought like that?

Am I unsympathetic? No, I just think welfare is one of the worst solutions ever instituted in a governmental system

Corvus, you have been depressed before WOW! Minor depression. What about the people that have more than just AS and depression, some with some f****d up mental problems. I think people with severe mental problems should recieve benefits from the government. Having severe mental problems stink worse than your own s**t and you don't know those people clearly. Schizoaffective Disorder, Schizophreniform Disorder, Delusional Disorder, Psychotic Disorder.m People with those disorders getting f****d over by the government and Corvus you have no idea of what you're talking about. You're just full of so much s**t, it's not even funny.

People with major depression and manic depression should be able to recieve benefits. Corvus that kind of depression is different from your BS minor depression BS.

People that are blind and/or deaf can receive benefits. So mentally ill people should too.

You guys are clueless to how society works. You think throwing money at things "heals" problems. Thats very ignorant but keep it up. You probably don't even know where that money comes from. You think its simply easy to just throw money at a group and expect it to end there. There's a reason the government doesn't give money to everyone. I'll let you think about it but you're probably too caught up in emotions over this that your thinking is becoming biased and not "realistic."

Make sure to include numerous insults in your replies to better "up" yourself and your position because thats what proves points, calling people "c***s." It makes replying to your conversation "worth it"

As well, you guys ever heard of what is called a "charity?" Charities are specific "fund raises" for causes and problems. People who feel strongly about a certain charity will offer their services/money for it. Why? Because they are passionate and intelligent enough to realize that you can't fix everyone's problem so dub it down and fix what you can. Requesting everyone just jump on welfare is hardly a fix but keep at it.

Haha Corvus and you cannot read. I never posted anything about money. I posted about benefits, that does not only mean money. Corvus you're ignorant of mental illnesses. Probably since you don't have any real mental illness besides Aspergers

I'm on the disability pension, if I was not in denial of my autism back when I was younger. I could have gotten help through Alpha Employment (back when I was living in Melbourne, I now live in Bendigo) to get the sort of skills needed to cope in open employment.

Around here jobs are very difficult to find if you are 24 and lacking paid employment experience and/or skills. I'm studying a field in university (Accounting) I am not highly endeared of to able to get myself some decent employment. So I have to start from square one doing volunteer work whenever I can and getting the social skills I need to obtain and keep down a job.

Being on the disability pension since I was 16, has been soul destroying for me. Mainly because I believe people should be self reliant as possible and taxes kept as low as possible to order to promote maximum economic prosperity.

Benefits cost money, anyways.

The point is, I can't wait for more people to jump on this. I think its not just welfare, because if you're on that and have a child, I'm paying for a day care, I'm paying for education, I'm paying for the whole damn thing and the cycles repeats itself. I'm raising a child even if I don't have one. Well, we don't make people "adopt" children, do we? Maybe, if I HAD to choose a charity (shouldn't have the choice already made for you based on a so called "default"), I'd want to donate to something else like East Timor or what have you.

No choice.
