I'm not totally non-verbal but my language is confusing.
I'd come across as shy, as with the majority of people, I am unable or unwanting to speak to them on our first encounter of eachother.
But yeah, you pretty much described me with people I don't know.
I am better with people I like.

There was a lot of lag and it wouldn't accept my message.
Sorry for the triple post.

Adding to "let me stim" if you see a resident stimming - let him. It helps greatly with curbing anxiety and stopping it can potentially turn the lower functioning side of the spectrum violent. If you see him rocking back and forth, or tapping, it could be seen as odd or annoying, just let him do it.

temperature is my hidden aspie need...if it's too hot I can go into meltdown mode over the fear of socially unacceptable sweating, and everything is vastly more difficult to deal with. if there was one thing that could significantly improve my health and wellbeing, it would be everyone maintaining indoor temperatures about 5-10 degrees (F) lower than they usually do.

That reminds me of the poem, "Quiet Hands."

Absolutely everyone who works with Autistic people needs to see this.
It was never a personal issue for me, but I hear a lot of people agreeing with this.

Letting the resident be is one of the biggest points I'm planning to stress.

As nurses, they want to fix things, make things run the way they think they should; they often have issue walking away from a situation. They need to know that letting the resident escape the situation and sit in a safe place and "be" is the best thing they can do when the person is over-whelmed.
