so they had to wait until your jaw was finished growing then. in any case, although this is cold comfort, at least you can be glad you didn't have to deal with scoliosis. and Tall-P, there is an oddmusic.com so maybe there indeed needs to be a companion website called oddhair.com.

Well, I had braces for 10 years to prepare for the surgery. When the teeth were lined up, then they operated.

Scoliosis! Ike! Was that painful?

yes, I was crippled up with it for much of my young adulthood, not in an obvious way but whenever the weather changes [including today- OUCH!] I get a loud POP! or CRICK! in my back or neck and I suddenly can barely move, and when younger I'd get a "wry neck" out of it as well. not fun. it is as though when god made me, on his assembly line I was made on a Monday morning [hungover workers] or Friday afternoon ["let's get the hell outta here! party hearty!"] out of irregular cast-off leftover parts. :hmph:

Well I like my hair short but messy and everywhere. :D

A recent Swedish study reported that the whole genetic and environmental cause of autism was about 50/50...and they had no idea as to what was causing what at this stage of research.

So while hair whorls and forward set eyes are definitely genetically determined, they 'could be' correlative markers for the presence of autism related genes...who knows? My hair has extra cowlicks and whorls and my eyes are a bit forward and closely set as well.

Might be a good subject for a grad student looking for a statistical analysis project?

First we need some theory why hair is different in neurodiversity. My theory is that it is different in order to make it easier to identify people from a distance, and from behind. That would predict hair has more random variation in neurodiversity than in neurotypical individuals, which is testable.

my hair is basically exactly like Harry Potter's hair is described. It's a mess that goes in 20 different directions. let my hair grow out and put round glasses on me, and i could come close to looking perfect for the part. add to that that i'm small an pale :P

I actually really like having insane short hair that's messy and sticks up everywhere (it horrifies my aunt and her face expression is hilarious each time) and I think it's great. But there are times where I have to go to a formal occasion and I can't get it to stay neat!

Mine's extremely thick and grows quickly. I cut it frequently, but it never looks the same twice because a part that is even when it gets cut becomes uneven when I wash it again.

I kind of have a non-teased scene haircut right now that was completely unintentional. I've got hair as short as my thumb in places where it should match the length of the rest of my hair, which goes past my shoulders.

If I shaved my head, you'd see this gigantic scar I got when I was born. :?

i have very thin, fine hair. i'm asian with brown hair, and randomly i decided i won't get a haircut for the next two years... its already been a year since my last haircut. i dunno why i didn't get my hair cut, probably didn't feel like it.
i like having more hair anyways. before i always has shortened, neatly trimmed hair, now it's long, overgrown, often messy and tangled. I have a habit of brushing it several times a day but my hair just refuses to work with me and it stays messy. if i showered the night before often times i'd wake up and my hair would be sticking out in all sorts of directions and there's absolutely nothing i can do to make it obey and sit flat. water, gel, more gel... it just won't listen.

even though i take good care of my hair if you were to feel it, it feels very rough, matted and messy. it often looks like i haven't washed it for days (i wash it every night)

maybe do like I do and keep it in a ponytail? and the way to get 'round the tangles is to take your hairbrush into the shower with you, wash your hair then run fingers through it for about a minute or so to remove the gross tangles, then with soap still in hair brush out the remaining ones, then turn the shower nozzle onto pulse or Jacuzzi and aim it at your hair where you are brushing it out, the force of the water will help untangle as you brush it, which also rinses the soap away at the same time. works for me.

Great. Seems like this is the first physical marker of neurodiversity. I'd given up on physical markers, but that seems to have been premature. With a sample of 60, it already has p < 0.01 that it is connected to neurodiversity.

I have these thick, dark, coarse, very kinky hairs that make me wonder if I had a black ancestor or two way back. I'd be fine with them if I were actually black, but without the rest of the ethnic looks package, I find them kind of disturbing. It just feels like they shouldn't be there, like they're not even really mine. *shudder* Plus, it's really hard to get them to stop sticking up/out. I'm seriously considering saving up for a chemical straightening treatment.
