None. Whenever I've tried to befriend someone, my family always threatens me with arrest.

2. The quotation marks are perfect, because I can never really be sure if they are friends or just people who tolerate me/find me amusing/pity me.

It's crazy because I have been helped tremendously by people who I trust but don't feel especially close to and betrayed by a few of those I have felt especially close to.

Unfortunately, just because someone helps me a tremendous amount doesn't make me feel like they are my "friends." They ARE friends in the sense that they showed me love and kindness, but they are not friends in an emotional sense.

Likewise, there are many people I will go out of my way to help, but I don't feel an emotional bond with them.

Then there are those that I feel like I want to bare my deepest soul to and give my everything to, and those are my friends. Understandably, there are not too many in that category currently nor have ever been.

That is why, to me, a friend is an extremely precious thing. To be called my "friend" is one of the highest privileges or compliments I could give anyone. People don't get that. It seems like the word "friend" is thrown around so much it has no meaning. Friendship is a type of love, in my book. Not necessarily romantic or sexual in nature (but could be, as I am married to my best friend), but loyal. Very loyal.

That is why betrayal hurts so bad and why true friendship is such a risk. In some ways, it is riskier than marriage because no one is making a vow of friendship in front of witnesses or needing legal proceedings to end a friendship if things go wrong.

about 2 right now that the manure hasn't hit the fan at its full extent yet. they're both girls, always have gotten along better with girls but this trend is changing somewhat. they all have their own social nets that don't involve me, and it's been forever since i last texted them. but i guess they enjoy my presence so i's all good.

i guess i should include my former chem teacher too. we caught up on tuesday and it was really nice, i get along pretty well with older adults too regardless of them not seeing me as equal all the time, one of "them". i also have some good friends on this site. 8)

Zero! I find so hard to make friends, but the hard thing is my subject is mostly about astronomy or physics and people just want to talk about someone life, neighbor or celebrity and idk care about those things.

I'm not sure how you define a "friend".

I was once having coffee with a woman from work (that's exactly how I thought of her - as a woman I work with). She saw someone she knew and introduced me as her "friend". I was surprised that she lied and immediately said, "No I'm not."

Moments like these are why my friend count remains at zero.
