Including your OP here. You are right, a lot of us should add our agreement to your posts when they are particularly good.
Thank you AspieUtah. I appreciate that.

I always read your posts. I've never had a problem with anything you've said, and I've always felt you make a real contribution.
Thank you. That means a lot to me coming from you.

Not because I've got a big head but because I want to be included. I want to feel like I belong.
I think you have made an error in thinking quotation is a metric that indicates anything about what people think of you and whether you belong.
I recognize your screen name because I often read what you write. If I am not quoting it, it doesn't mean I don't value it. I tend to write about my own obsessions and only quote to emphasize or disagree with something. Much of the time I read something and value it but say nothing.
I think your feelings about this are a bit distorted because you are linking the posting/being quoted thing to other issues that are probably related to being autistic--because your experience is continuous and all these things seem like factors in making up that experience. But the reality is that these things are not connected. This place and the people who post here are not the same people in your immediate surroundings and their actions are not about you or primarily part of the story of your life. Thinking of it that way will only make you feel worse, or like you have been denied something that you are entitled to, which is unhealthy.
I hope you feel better and find ways to get the connection that you need.
Thank you. What you say makes a lot of sense and is true.

I have been here a few years and nobody really talks to me here as well.
I guess there is a few regulars who have been here even longer that trust each other and converse a lot, there are newer people who are more shy, there are confrontational people who can't wait for the next good debate, and there are a lot of lurkers. I tdo hope here is a small few that just want to meet new people and talk to others who they can relate too on some level.

I've always found your posts to be pretty good too. I think it's just the nature of online forums that makes everyone wonder most of the time if anyone else has read what one has written.

I can't see your face, I dont really know much about you. There are hundreds of people on here. If I met you in real life we would probably be friends. (Aspies make good friends)
If you post on a popular forum such as this you will be lost in the crowd.
It would be nice to have forums dedicated to countries and states for more intimacy.
Have you considered joining or starting a local IRL meetup group for asperger's?
Depending on a forum for a sense of community will lead to misery.
I have actually thought of starting a real life meeting group for Aspies because as far as I know, I've never really meet another one in real life and I'd like to do something that is useful and helpful to others on the spectrum.

I think the majority of the posters on WP (including me) are regularly ignored even if they write good posts. So you are not being singled out to be ignored. I think there are a small number of WP members that have become friends with each other and that more readily respond to each other's posts than to other members' posts.
There are some particular posters that I think write good posts but for some reason their posts also often don't seem to get replies.
I'd happily be your friend but I'm sure you would find me too boring.
Not because I've got a big head but because I want to be included. I want to feel like I belong. I want to feel like I'm a part of this community. The only community ever I've felt akin to. I've been here for over a year and no-one has ever shown an interest in being a friend and yet, I see other members befriend other members. It's just like in real life. I'm always on the sideline watching life go by!! !! !! !! !
It's not because of ego. It's because I want to feel like I belong. Like I'm liked. Like I'm being included but that never happens and I feel just as alienated on this site as I do in real life. If not, more so!
I've got over 1,000 entries on this site and I doubt I've had more than 20 replies to ANYTHING I've ever said. That's 0.5% interest in me. Perhaps I'm dumb. Perhaps I'm not worth replying to but the one thing I do know is this place isn't special. It's just as cruel as the real world. Perhaps even more so. At least in real life, people pretend to be interested in me. Here, I just get ignored. I've even stopped checking my stupid Alex emails because I know no one has cared about me or what I've said. No one has even paid attention to me. Just another lesson on being ignored. I'm getting used to it. I'm beginning to expect it. HELL - I'm even beginning to enjoy it. I think it's a form of masochism and a good source of self-pity. I give up - in life and here!! !! !! !! !! !!
I?m kind of oblivious to netiquette, am unsure of the appropriate parameters and have a knack for saying the wrong thing, but I read most of the posts in this section including yours. It?s a miscommunication hang up that I?d rather avoid, or some days I just can?t communicate clearly what I would like to write. So quoting someone specifically can be interpreted as a friendly social approach... who knew...
I'm sorry that you feel this way. Wrong Planet is a great resource for learning about Autism, but I've never viewed it as a good place to make friends. Due to the size of the community, it's easy for some people to end up being overlooked, unfortunately. When it comes to making friends, I prefer to post on smaller forums, where members can get to know each other more easily.

NOTE: I disown much of what I posted using this account. Peace.
Feel this half the time or more about every site I go to. Not even a week ago I was feeling it about WrongPlanet. Depending on the thread I sometimes feel as if I've been annoying and that's why they didn't reply. Then I feel like I shouldn't reply to any threads. Deep down I realize it's more likely they just didn't have anything to say to my post. However I get very self-critical and paranoid. Not to mention as someone who relies so heavily on the internet for human interaction I want to feel a sense of belonging here. That's when I realized I needed to take a step back. To change my approach and worry less about this site and whether or not I'm doing the best I can to be part of the community. The pressure doesn't do anyone any good, least of all me.
I think you are more appreciated then you assume. Often people just don't know what to say, like how we are ourselves are so lost at communicating, and it's not personal.

Nobody likes to be ignored. That's something we all understand, no matter what's wrong with you. It's not about friendliness. I have no friends and I don't really care for them. I just don't like feeling like I don't matter! Like I don't count!
